The treading of my footsteps became louder as they pressed sharply against the path. Strong winds brewed from around him and whipped at my face. Heavy breaths left my mouth as I tried to pick up my speed, take note, I was not an active person.
Home. I had to go home. The voice of a callous female echoed in my mind. Home, she chanted, over and over again. Come home my child.
I hate this. I don't want this anymore. It's not fair.
The tall, frightening building came into sight, silhouetted by the drums of thunder and the flash of lightning. Immediately, my pace slowed down until I halted in front of it. Part of me wanted to run, my only sane part left, wanted me to return to where I'm needed the most.
But to no avail, the feminine taunting voice returned. Enter, my child. Return to your mistress.
I moved leisurely, taking cautious steps as the front door creaked open, revealing an old, worn down hallway. To the left was a spiral staircase, leading to the second floor and to the right? What looked to be a young woman with long black hair; her face complimented with a masquerade mask.
Her lipstick was a dark, glossy red as it painted over her tormenting smirk. Tension was thick in the air, it may have been possible to even touch it. But before I could speak, she simply laughed before feigning a pout.
" You disobeyed me, my child. You had one task; and you failed to fulfill it. " Her pout gradually formed into a sadistic grin. " And so, instead of him being your target.. you shall be mine! "
A flick of silver shined from her back as she moved her hand from behind her and waved it airily at me. Stepping back, I distanced myself from her as she moved closer and closer. As my back hit the wall, my body shook. It was my end.
" It's over now, boy. " That was all it took before she professionally swiped in the air. I shrunk down against the wall, plopping against the floor. I really, really did not want to die.
She took my powers the moment I entered the house. I can't run from her. It's over.
Noticing my surrendering expression, she maniacally laughed before pointing at directly to me, licking her lips with a grin. She had me cornered, like a cat that had ran astray and into an alley of lethal canines.
Tears swelled up in my eyes and ran down my cheeks, suppressing the urge to breakdown and sob. " Did you forget? " I looked up and through the blurry vision, her smile did not faulter. " I am apart of this game aswell, and the line, Take thy one just as planned. Do you get it now, child? First you, then that stupid little boy and then the power of Yin and Yang! "
" W-wait, please. Don't do this. Don't hurt him. " I cried helplessly, hugging my knees in subordination. She, however, simply laughed in absolute mockery. " You're my puppet, child, and that boy will not stand in my way. "
This is all my fault..
I shook my head, taking up all the energy in me and racing out of the house, wiping the tears from my eyes as my heart beat furiously in my chest of restriction. I ran for all I was worth, hearing a crack of thunder before rain pelted down.
Perfect for this type of mood, I guess.
Turning into an alleyway, I heard her yell in a lunatic tone, " You shall not escape, you are forever mine! " At the dead end, I pressed my back up against the wall, my bottom lip trembling.
A silhouette appeared around the corner as I stared at it in terror, my body shaking uncontrollably. She laughed loudly as she walked around the corner, her steps slow and silent, yet they screamed a thousand words.
Run.
Turning around, I found the dead end still blocked my only exit out, turning around with deep breaths and shaking my head; not yet wanting to die. She cackled even more at my clear and obvious distress.
Step by step she walked further towards me, her other hand now carrying another knife in the opposite hand. Dual-wielding. " I'm going to chop you up in so many pieces, not even your dear friends can put you back together. "
" Holy Ray! "
A loud shout echoed behind her as a sphere of white light appeared, arrows stringed from the sphere in an ellipse motion; stabbing her continuously over her body. They pierced through her lean body before disappearing into smoke causing her to fall back against the concrete, blood flowing from the holes and burns.
" I got you, you evil witch. Perish in the holy light before you, Minerva. " Everything seemed to go into slow motion as his saviour was revealed, beautiful blonde hair with a crystal earring on one ear. His blue eyes trailing over my body and finding himself gaping before he let out a shriek of confusion.
" Rogue?! "
Sting..
He ran over to me almost immediately after realizing it was.. well.. me, kneeling in front of me and scanning his eyes over my body. I cracked a smile before he looping his arms around my neck and dragging me up into a searing yet passionate kiss.
" Sting, I'm your Marionette. "
