Sting's P.O.V
This guy never gives up! I hate it. I've been recieving letters over and over, and recently, they're becoming coloured. You know the threatening red and orange kind of letters? Yeah, those.
I just want to sit and grieve, I want to remember Rogue. I want to keep him with me. In my head. It's all I have left of him.
Sighing, I walked over to my door to see a red scarlet letter drop to the floor. Was someone holding it? As I glanced through the hallway, I cringed slightly.
No one is there.
Creepy.
Leaning down, I slowly opened the letter, all crinkled and folded, gazing my eyes over the neat handwriting:
Mr. Eucliffe,
Do not brush off my warnings, boy. If you wish to bring back your dear lover, meet me at the central tree of Magnolia at 10:00pm, the tree will glow in a rainbow pattern.
Do not be late.
- Guardian of Light
I bit my bottom lip anxiously. The Guardian of Light? What kind of Guardian? I looked down at my wristwatch. 9:55pm.
Shit.
Taking off into the centre direction of Magnolia, I ran as fast as my legs could take me, not even stopping to catch a breath. Jumping over obstacles, I could physically feel my energy drain from my body, my breaths now coming out as mindless pants.
Another look to my watch. 9:58pm. Almost there, I saw the tree in my view, but something was different. As I ran closer, the tree seemed to be accompanied by something twice it's size, and in a golden colour.
As I slowed down, I glanced up as the tree showed off it's brilliant colours, watching as the golden figure emerged from behind. It's golden wings expanded like royalty, craning it's neck to look down at me.
A dragon.
" So boy, you have made it. I am Chalice, Dragon of the Sun. Since the death of my follower, Weisslogia, I have taken his aurora, or what you humans call 'soul', so he is now apart of the daylight. "
I was, at first, taken aback by this statement, immediately recoiling. " My father? You knew my father?! " He simply smiled and lied down to get a closer look at me. " Yes boy, but that is not why I summoned you here. "
Opening my mouth to speak, he shook his head before continuing, " You wish to save a boy, Rogue Cheney, correct? Sign the contract and I will grant you my power. "
" Power? I get the power of the Sun Dragon? " I repeated, just to confirm. And confirm he did. " Yes, I have no reason to lie. " I watched as a small, golden contract flashed in front of me, with a feather quill to sign.
And with hestiation, I signed.
With a roar of laughter, he stood, golden swirls flashing off his scales and swarming around us. It took a moment but I finally realised he was chanting something. Past events flashed through my mind, but depression didn't come. No. The swirls made me feel happy, cheery. It was amazing. I smiled, listening softly as the glowing golden swirls danced around us.
" Above the horizon is where I set,
When memories are made and secrets kept,
It won't be long 'til I fall below,
Yet behind me trails a lustrous glow.
The night arises and takes my place,
The sorrowful moon now fills my space,
But fear not; my words you heed,
This moon once beautiful succumbed to greed. "
I noticed, just barely, a faint growl when the moon was mentioned. I would have asked, surely, but I was so positive that it was a personal problem, so I brushed it off and listened a bit more.
" It is my duty; for my kingdom I spare,
To save from loss, both raw and rare,
So once again I will make my stand,
My orange glow illuminates my land,
As you can see, from far and wide,
There is no place for dark to hide,
My glow that fans over my terrain,
Above the horizon is where I reign. "
When I opened my eyes, he was gone. Disappeared. The words, however, were etched in a golden font in thin air, right in front of me. On the contract paper, that was now a plain white, they formed over it as it tucked into my pocket.
A smile etched onto my lips, glancing up at the now just brightening sky as the morning arose, whispering a few words into the gentle breeze. " Thank you, Chalice. "
But just like that my moment was ended, clouds formed unnaturally through the sky as lightning flashed angrily with thunder.
I now have the power the return the loved one that I lost.. I can do it. I can save him.
Golden swirls strung lightly around my body, twisting and turning gracefully as they glowed brilliantly in the darkened sky.
The ritual had begun. I will save you, Rogue.
