-Dox's POV-
Lounging in my room and reflecting on life seemed to have started being something I did more often than necessary after the incidents. Before, I hadn't had any time, I'd always be spending all my time with either Jace or my family or both. I used to be so occupied...And now I'm just, here.
I was also contemplating an escape route from Cato's stupid party. I did not ,for the life of me, want to go. I wasn't one for socializing. Novah didn't count.
I simply could not comprehend why Novah couldn't ask a girl or someone he likes, he was cute after all and he was fit, so why not? When I came to think of it, he never showed the mildest of interest in anyone... Why? He made it clear that he was straight and there were so many girls trying to get his attention.
So I had taken my chances and called him, hoping he'd let me be on my own.
The conversation had gone something like this:
"Hi."
"Hey, what's up?"
"Don't get mad, but, why don't you just ask a girl to come with you?" I had asked, innocently.
"That's because I don't want to."
"Why?"
He sighed. "Just because."
"But, why?"
"It's complicated. I don't want to, okay? No further questions. You are coming." He stated.
"I don't want to, you can't make me." I quipped.
"So help me Dox, I will carry you out your house if I have to. You're coming. Do you really want me to tattle to your bro?" He had asked, I could just imagine the smirk on his face.
I wanted to claw at it.
I had huffed, exasperated that I failed to get my way.
"Fine." I said and hung up on him, just before he was going to say something, trying to express my child-like anger that was bordering a tantrum.
I just really hadn't wanted to go. Little did I know that series of events would change my life drastically and dramatically.
Still to this day, I am astonished by how much people don't know about this earth, how much they choose to ignore. The way these secrets are so effectively kept, will always remain to be a massive bewilderment to me. It's astounding that I didn't know then, that I didn't know anything...
It had been around 6 in the afternoon when I finally decided to haul ass and start to look presentable. I was sighing in disappointment at myself, my situation and my wardrobe as I went through my clothes. I hadn't wanted to try anymore so I had just grabbed the nearest hoodie, which was a light pink one and the closest pants, which had been black skinny jeans. Shrugging to myself I had put them on, not knowing that I'd be meeting the love of my life that day, in a new light.
After I had donned my clothes, I fell on my bed and waited for Novah, glaring into oblivion. About half an hour later, Novah had rung our bell, panting, and had insisted that he gets me Fro-Yo for making me go to a party. He knew that they weren't my forte.
So we walked to the local shop and got our Fro-Yo and ate it in silence because I refused to talk to him. I ate the Fro-Yo though... 'cause like, its Fro-Yo...
I had halted as much as possible and ate, more like slurped the rest of the yoghurt pathetically slowly. Novah had noticed and rolled his eyes.
"Come on Dox, we have to be there now, I'm not allowed to miss this." He had said.
I ground my teeth together and muttered a 'fine'. I proceeded to get up and kick a stray pebble up the walkway as we walked. When Novah's massive mansion started to come into view, I started to become jittery and uncomfortable, I had begun tugging on my hoodie sleeves out of nervousness. The house had not looked like a ruckus was going on, I thought it was just some family and friends that must have been attending.
- Third Person POV-
He didn't know, as he got closer and closer, his scent was overwhelming someone else's senses. But the other person found this to be restrained... He, he did not like this smell. He saw this situation as something that would chain him forever, trapped.
He knew who was coming closer, but he didn't want to find out who she was, what she looked like or how she behaved or anything regarding her. He panicked. On his 18th birthday, he panicked.
He was 18, he would find his mate.
And he was dreading it.
A few minutes had passed before the scent had overwhelmed him so much that he scrunched up his nose in utter distaste, only because he loved it so much. It was so sweet... like warm baked cookies and Lilly flowers; his favourite. He didn't want to find the scent intoxicating, he fought against his heart that was pulling him into his mate's direction, he fought and he fought hard.
He didn't want to suffer the fate his father did.
He didn't want that at all.
Since he was a child, he had dreaded this moment. It had finally befallen his path and all the strength he built up in his head to fight against it was clearly failing as he was overwhelmed with love and adoration for her. His so called mate.
He couldn't fight looking at her.
He had to see.
He slowly rose his head up to see Novah.
He scrunched up his face. What the hell? Novah couldn't be his mate!
He was just about to lash out before a petite boy stepped into the house behind Novah.
His heart started beating obnoxiously loud and his eyes widened.
Standing there looking awkward as hell, timid and shy with fire in his light green eyes was Dox.
The now 18 year old grounded his teeth together.
Fate was playing some game with him.
The moon goddess hated him.
His mate was a human...
And a male.
