Epilogue

Cold moonlight seeped into a hollowed out tree that still stood tall and strong. A large, light gray tom laid in the circle of light in the den. The sound of yowling awoke him with a jolt. He shook out his pelt and darted out into the clearing of SunClan's camp. He perked his ears and looked around the camp to locate where the yowling came from. The yowling filled the camp once more. It was coming from the Nursery! The gray tom ran into the nursery to see a queen's light blue gaze fall on her mate.

"Skystar..." She breathed her eyes full of pain.

" Are they coming, Goldenblaze?" Skystar mewed gently licking his mate's shoulder. Goldenblaze's yowl filled the den.

"Yes, I think at least... Please fetch Icewhisker.." Goldenblaze whispered closing her eyes. Skystar ran out of the nursery and padded into the hollowed rock used for the medicine cat den. A small brown and white tortoiseshell she cat laid on a bed of moss while Icewhisker's bed was empty.

"Sagepaw!" The SunClan leader meowed in the small apprentice's ear.

"What?" Sagepaw looked up her eyes bleary with sleep.

"Goldenblaze is kitting! Where is Icewhisker?"

"She went out looking for herbs!"

"Where are the warriors?"

"Rivershine sent them on 2 midnight border patrols, and 2 hunting patrols."

"Okay... Please get the herbs!"

"Oh, oh StarClan," Sagepaw gasped "I-I'll get my supplies!" Sagepaw hurried around the den reaching for her supplies. Skystar darted back to the nursery. He quickly grabbed a stick and gave it to Goldenblaze.

"Bite down," he ordered. She obediently put the stick in her mouth and closed her eyes as a spasm rocked her body. Sagepaw rushed into the den.

"I-I got the..." Sagepaw glanced behind her sniffing the air.

"You got wh-" Skystar didn't get a chance to finish when the retched smell of fox filled the den.

"Fox..." Whimpered Goldenblaze "StarClan help us.." They heard snarling as the fox leapt into the den ripping the bracken apart.

"Get out!" Yowled Skystar as he launched himself at the fox. Sagepaw began biting and scratching at the fox's legs. Goldenblaze groaned as a small little, golden tabby she cat slipped out. Sagepaw's eyes grew wide and she began to spasm. Skystar scratched across the fox's nose as blood began to well. The fox snarled as it bit down on Skystar's neck he yelped. He was losing a life. The fox let go long enough as Skystar saw a small gray tabby she cat slip out.

"One of your kin, with the pelt of the sun, will unite our clans and find the ones we have forgotten."

Sagepaw blurted. "It's a prophecy! My first pro-" She didn't get a chance to finish when she saw the fox heading for Goldenblaze. "No!" she yowled as she launched herself at the fox. "Leave her alone!" She yowled scratching the fox's eyes.

"It's no use Sagepaw," whispered Goldenblaze "take them... Us 4 won't make it. Take them." She nosed the silver tabby, the larger one. "This is Glowkit," she nosed the gold tabby kit, "This is Sunkit... She is very special..." Her eyes lit up. "Take them..." Sagepaw grabbed the kits and darted under the fox. She heard Goldenblaze screech and smelt blood. Sagepaw ran out the den, kits in her mouth as she ran through the night to find a patrol to help their leader.
