Chapter 50"Hi, we're here for my 25 week check up," Layla told the receptionist.
"Yes Dr. Johansson is expecting you."
Rell and Layla was escorted to the exam room as they awaited the doctor.
"I feel like we were here the other day," Rell spoke. "The baby is coming soon."
"I know," she laughed. "I actually kind of like being pregnant."
"Hmmmmm. Sounds like you want more kids in the near future."
"Near future? No. But yes I want more in probably five years."
"I'll hold you that," he said kissing her forehead. "Now undress."
Layla changed into the cotton gown and sat on the exam table. Rell sat right next to her rubbing her tummy.
"I love that," she smiled. "Whenever you speak the baby moves a lot."
"She knows her Dadda's voice," he smiled.
"The baby is really active," Layla corrected.
"When is Nadirah doing the reveal?"
"Well since you are throwing a surprise wedding. I will be throwing a surprise reveal," she smiled. "So I get to torture you."
"Knowing you, you'll wait until when you're in labor.
"I would not," she laughed. "I actually already have it planned. But today I will be able to confirm and have everything set for the big day."
"Do you know when your father is coming in?"
"Christmas Eve. Today I will finish decorating. I procrastinated too long."
"Why do we have to decorate anyways?"
Layla looked at him surprised. "Because it's Christmas duh. Usually I have my tree up by Black Friday."
Dr. Johansson knocked then peeped her head in. "Hey guys," she said entering. "How is favorite couple?"
"Tired," Layla exclaimed. "My back is always hurting."
"Have you notice any swelling?"
"Only if I stand for too long."
"That's why we have you on bed rest. And have you been resting?"
"Kind of," she said at the same time Rell replied, "no."
"Layla," Dr. Johansson scolded. "You and I both know you know better."
"But laying in bed all day is boring."
"Don't you have a wedding to plan?"
"No Rell is planning it."
"Oh wow," Dr. Johansson laughed. "Well you don't have to lay in bed all day. But you do need to rest especially your pelvic area. The separation of the placenta doesn't not heal on its own."
Layla nodded. Dr. Johansson continued to ask her the usual questions and then prepped her for a transvaginal ultrasound. Once they were done, Rell scheduled her next appointment while she got dressed and used the bathroom.
