CHAPTER 45

Rell slowly climbed out of bed careful not to wake Layla. He grabbed his phone and redialed the last number.

"You reach," he asked into the phone.

"Yea. You coming," the female asked.

Rell slid on some joggers and then his slides. "Leaving now. Be outside."

———————————

Layla rolled over in bed as the front door closed. She looked over and Rell was not there. She opened up the security camera app on her phone as she saw Rell hopping in the Bentley Coupe that was parked out front and pulled off quickly.

"What," she said out loud confused.

She called him and he didn't pick up. It was five in the morning. Where could he possibly be going at this time?

She called him twice more times and he didn't answer. Layla laid back in bed and turned the TV on. Within ten minutes her mind began wandering again.

"No I trust him," she said out loud. "Probably an office emergency."

At five am dumbass, her subconscious yelled.

"You're overreacting Layla," she whispered.

Track his phone...

"Nope not doing it."

Track his car...

"Hell no."

Layla got up and went into the kitchen.

Make a pot of grits and throw it on him when he enters...

Layla laughed out loud when she thought about it. "Whew Chile the crazy."

She decided to make breakfast for her and Maddison knowing that she had preschool today. Even after making breakfast it was only a couple minutes shy of 6 am.

Layla picked up her phone calling him again. No answer. "Urghhh," she yelled.

She picked up the broom and began cleaning the already clean house.

Rell walked in the house at 7 AM. "Baby why you up so early?"

Layla was lounging on the couch just staring at the ceiling. Diary of a Mad Black Woman was playing on the TV. "You left so I couldn't sleep."

"Shit I'm sorry," he said sitting next to her. "You cooked?"

"Yup," she said still avoiding his gaze.

"What's wrong? Why you acting like that?"

"I called you several times."

Rell searched his pockets. "Shit I must have left it in the office. I went for a drive to clear my head since I'm still having trouble sleeping and I ended up at the club so I checked on the shipment of liquor. It should be here today."

"Hmph," she said.

Rell pulled her legs up to sit them in his lap however Layla pulled them back and sat up. "You smell like perfume."

Rell sniffed himself and cursed under his breath. "I don't smell like anything."

Layla stood up. "So I'm dumb now?"
