Chapter 3

Gabriel AKA Rell

"So Rell I need a new connect man. These Italians on some dumb shit. They shorting my shipment then blaming it on my men. You claiming you sent 150 kilos but when I get it it's only 100 kilos. Where the rest at? Then they have the nerve to charge me full price," complained Adonis.

Rell and Adonis went way back. When Rell was 11, his mom was deported back to the Dominican Republic. His father was bussing his ass as a school janitor barely making enough to scrape by.  Tired of the being without light and food Rell felt forced to grow up quick.

Everyone knew Adonis back in East Harlem where Rell was originally from. Rell begged Adonis to put him on so he could make money to help his father and send to his mother for aid.

Rell entered the bodega where he knew Adonis could likely be found. At the time, Adonis was a big time local drug lord. Adonis was posted up in the cold section talking slick to young girl no older than 18.

"Aye, Don lemme talk to you quick," Rell asked interrupting Adonis' attempt to get some pussy.

Adonis' head snap back trying to figure out who had the audacity to interrupt him but when he realized it was just young boy Rell, he shooed off the lil broad in front of him.  "Yoooooo, wassup young G, you good son, how your pops doing?"

"We aight, but I need a huge favor, you know I wouldn't ask if I wasn't deadass about this. I need you to put me on."

"Put you on what."

"I need to make some money. I'm tired of being hungry and wearing the same shit everyday. We don't even have any lights and the water about to cut," Rell confessed.

Adonis watched the young boy sympathetically. "How much you need? I'm not about to put you on. I need you to make it out the hood legitimately."

"Nah man. I don't want your pity. Give me a job. I don't want to be lending no money from you."

"Think of it as an investment." Adonis was serious. He didn't want young boy Rell getting his hands dirty.

"It's either you put me on or not." Rell knew the consequences of borrowing in the hood. He rather work to make his own. Sadly he was too young to get an actual job and his father wouldn't dear ask him for help. He overheard conversations between his parents on the phone, they were both in need.

Adonis saw that Rell was really serious. "Okay. Meet me back here after school tomorrow." He knew if he didn't help Rell now he would regret it. Adonis didn't want for Rell to wander off to anyone else asking for help and getting into trouble.
