"Don't make me sad don't make me cry sometimes love-" Ann sang very much out of tune as her best friend looked across at her trying not to laugh. She sang out again tapping against the side of her chair as she bobbed her head to the beat of the song laughing as she did so. Ann knew she was about as tuneful as a crying baby but she sang none the less it was amusing she guessed.
"I left you for a year and you still can't sing it's good to know old habits die hard" Meghan, Ann's best friend spoke up as she indicted to the car next to her waving her hand as the man driving waved back as a quick thankyou. Ann turned to her friend tucking a piece of her brown hair behind her ear and out of the way, she had way too much off it but couldn't bring herself to cut it short it was a bit of her trade mark in a way. That and plaid tops Ann loved those.
"I have no idea what you are talking about" Ann retorted shrugging her shoulders as she let out another strangled cry that she believed was in tune, this earned a roll of her eyes from Meghan and some comments whispered under her breath.
The song sadly finished Meghan sighing in relief as it did, she decided that was enough of the radio and defiantly Ann's singing as she quickly shut it off leaving the twos girls to talk. Meghan looked over at her friend noticing how much she had grown or maybe matured since they had last met, her hair was somehow longer reaching the small of her back something she new Ann had always wanted to achieve, her smile was bigger too, laughing at something she just mentioned as she spoke to Meghan. Her accent seemed thicker too maybe it was just because she no longer lived around her or the accent but she had definitely changed she was happy more care free.
"He didn't even see her coming and it was just-" Ann continued rambling on about an incident that wasn't really that important but she felt it was necessary to share with her best friend, her eyes crinkled a little as she got to what she believed to be the funny bit, her breath getting caught in her throat as she tried to keep the bubble of laughter down but she couldn't. Her school girl like giggles erupted through the car as she lent forward a little to to try and catch her breath and calm herself down.
The car swerved a little bit making Ann snap back up and over dramatically hold on to her seatbelt for "dear life" she knew this would piss Meghan off so that's why she did it. It was her best friend after all and she hadn't seen her in over a year it was obviously expected.
"Don't" Meghan started as she already knew what was coming as her friend turned to her looking at her with wide eyes. "Shut up Anniee" she continued smirking over at her but this time putting her eyes right back on the road instead of trying to figure out what was different and 'listening' to the story she was telling her.
"I didn't say anything" Ann replied holding up her hands in surrender. "But I'm sure I felt my life flash before my eyes, Jesus. H. Christ Meg I nearly died" she said mouth a gape as she tried not to snicker through her little act. Meghan simply rolled her eyes at the smaller girl muttering a few swear words at her. They loved each other to the moon and back, honestly, but the teasing element of their relationship just came with them almost like their own little package.
"So" Ann said a small smile making its way on to her lips at what she was about to ask, "how's Luke is it?" She paused turning to her friend."The boy you moved half way across the world for?" Ann questioned narrowing her eyes playfully as she finished with a quick "and ditched me for" being muttered under her breath aswell.
Meghan's cheeks instantly heated up at the sound of her boyfriends name, the move from England to Australia may seem big to some people but to her it was nothing other than a big adventure and besides her University was situated there. It just so happened that her boyfriend lived their too. Lucky for Meghan he was happy to put her up as long as she didn't mind his rowdy flat mates.
