The Past of Humanity

There was a period that was so long ago no one can remember, and those who have were entrapped in the dark corners of the recreated society. Once, in the days of noble men, there was religion. Almost the entire world worshiped a single divine being, known to them as The Creator. It had no gender, no humanity, for it was an immortal entity; a spirit whose existence transcended time and space. In a dimension of darkness, it was the light that illuminated the dormant world that re-birthed all humanity after they had destroyed themselves long ago. Fragments of The Creator were thought to be within a few selected beings, which were regarded as angels; guardians of the people and their morals, as well as the sole protectors of The Creator. By preserving the light inside of the people, they kept The Creator thriving and radiating light into the souls of the people. Angels were half human, yet they were the ascendancy of all living beings. Their authority was absolute. Being the purest of heart and untainted souls, these celestial beings each obtained a power unfathomable to many; for some of their abilities surpassed the limitations of physics. Each had incredible regenerative traits, such as lungs that did not collapse miles into the atmosphere, wings that endured hurricanes, bones of titanium that rarely broke, and wounds that instantly healed.

For centuries, as humanity progressed, even with their advanced engineering still thought of them as invincible, that is, until a highly influential politician concluded that he too could harness the same powers which the angels possessed. He began the long and difficult task of convincing them that he was just as noble as they were. After decades, they allowed him in to witness their council meetings, even taking his advice when he brought up suggestions of protecting the common people from those intending to do harm.

With his convincing act, he was able to ease himself into their community, secretly placing his hidden agendas into their minds. Gradually, he assembled a group of his most loyal disciples and embedded them into positions of power within the council. They all corrupted the minds of the angels, turning them against The Creator, and the common people. One day, he led an attack on the heavily populated cities and was astonished at how the protectors of humanity were now devastating the very thing they took an oath to defend. The politician then went to the people and put false information in their heads to make them believe that the angels had failed them, that they had all been tainted by darkness and became the vessels in which it used to consume their light. The angels mass-murdered over 800 civilians that day.

Meanwhile, The Creator cleansed the souls of the angels, opening their eyes once more to the truth and engraving stardust into their veins. Petrified of all the wrongs they had committed, they all lingered in deep sorrow. They were so guilt-stricken that they did not defend themselves when the people, manipulated by the sinister politician, enslaved their race, and all angels were to carry out their lives in chains. Their abilities were used to build massive cities and generate power to keep them running and expanding. They were eventually used as soldiers to fight every country's wars and develop machinery and weapons used to massacre their own kind in the name of "liberation" for the humans. One soldier invented a weapon capable of cracking the earth and vaporizing all in its path, and when they were used in the Final War, cities, empires, whole continents were erased from existence. Very few survived the famine that followed 50 years after the war came abruptly to an end. The remaining humans, certain that the divine beings had caused all of this, dedicated themselves to hunting and killing them to extinction.

The last of the angels hardly resembled the noble beings their ancestors once were. Because the light in humanity had faded long ago, their species was weakened. The specs of stardust scattered throughout their bodies still possessed magical properties but did not allow them to be as strong as they were meant to be. Many of them, burdened by all the atrocities they witnessed, went insane, overcame with darkness, were reduced to soulless beings known as ghouls that sought to devour the light from any humans they came across. It was they who were the true enemy to both humans and angels.

Despite the best efforts of the humans, not all the angels were murdered. They soon went into centuries of hiding deep in forests and migrating often to avoid being found. It was then that humanity rose again, this time conquering land on which to build new empires. This required fighting countless ghouls; such a thing that only the bravest of men considered doing. Angels in this era were feared, and highly sought-after to fight in the armies for large sums of money.

It came to be known that certain bloodlines of Angels each inherited a unique power that was passed down through the generations. Families of Angels who began passing down their special abilities flourished during the war. This is the current era of the world now, and how Midnight Celadon came to be a soldier. His family was a powerful one. Him and his siblings were trained to fight at a very young age, and the name Celadon grew to be respected and feared. What was even more mysterious was that no one ever knew of his power was.
