"Blaise, I haven't seen you in forever!" Hermione gave a quick hug to the always dashing man in front of her, Ginny doing the same after her.
"Same for you Miss 'I'm moving to Australia, see you never'"
She playfully hit him on the ribs knowing he was only having some banter. "Well, you could've always visited, from what I've heard you regularly visit New Zealand and that's literally next to Australia Mister 'I'm building a multinational company and traveling round the world all year round'".
"Okay, I quit, you got me there."
The group made their way back to the Great Hall trying to find the rest of their friends. Much to Ginny's approval Luna and Neville were sat a talking to Harry and Ron.
"We're back." She said as they approached the table moving to hug Luna and Neville.
Hermione looked from Ron to Blaise, to Harry, to Blaise again and wondered if she'd have to stop a fight from happening. When Ron started walking in Blaise's direction in long strides, she grabbed her wand ready to break the boy's apart. Luckily, Ron stopped as he reached the newly arrived man and with a wide smile hugged Blaise patting him on the back.
"Where have you been Zabini? You didn't show up for last week's Quidditch match at the Burrow." Hermione was gobsmacked when Ron Weasley was so nice to a Slytherin, okay the Zabini's had never been Death Eaters but they had been associated with other families who were so and she'd expected the tall ginger to react on that. Nevertheless he didn't, he did quite the opposite to be fair and with that Hermione was left feeling slightly guilty for thinking that one of her best friends would not be over the pre-war prejudice.
"I'm sorry mate. Mum had an emergency and I had to go help her. But next time I'll be there to beat your freckly arse." Everyone around the table laughed, apart from Hermione who was still not over the shock of seeing Ron Weasley and Blaise Zabini talk as if they were best mates, it was such a surprise that she even felt lightheaded.
"Everything okay Mione? You look very pale?" Harry pulled a chair for her to sit on and immediately passed her the glass of water he had been drinking before the trio had arrived at the table.
"I'm fine Harry. I guess I was just surprised you're all such good friends with Blaise." Blaise put his hand to his heart pretending to be offended so she continued. "You don't need to be dramatic Blaise, you know perfectly well that you're just as much of a brother to me as Harry is. It's just that Ron was always a bit prejudiced, don't even argue here you know it's true Ronald, I didn't expect him to be as nice to you."
"He wasn't my number one fan at the beginning but after a few years, and some really great tickets for the best Quidditch games dear Ronald got used to me." Ron was still claiming he wasn't that materialistic but the entire group was just laughing "I know you've been gone for a while but I thought you'd remember that no one can resist my charm, Granger."
"She's been gone for so long she's not even Granger anymore." Ron whispered to Harry who just chuckled but the damage was already done, before Hermione could even think of what to do Ginny was grabbing her left hand to look at the two magnificent rings adorning her finger.
"You got engaged and then married and didn't even tell me? You need to tell me the entire story now!"
"Gin" Hermione started carefully getting her hand out of her friend's grip and sitting back on her chair "There's really no need for such drama. You know the entire story already."
"Clearly I don't!" Ginny retorted "I didn't know you had gotten engaged, let alone married! Now spill!"
