Here's another chapter, briefly explaining how Kiyoi's family allowed the bunny-a-fying serum to work. My sister told me that I have to have it fit in somehow, preferably make it a normal thing...so I got this, still making the fact unique, but also work...? This is hard to explain, just read XD

—1st Person POV----~'"Age: 16"'~
The Akazaki family.
One of the most scientifically advance families in Japan, and the most unusual.
The Akazaki family goes back many years, to the time of feudal Japan. It began with two, a man and a women, with intelligence beyond that age. The male, Akazaki Hakaku, was blessed with insatiable curiosity and intelligence, and the woman Hashimoto Kana, with a keen mind.
The two found each other while Kana was running from her home into the woods and crashed into Hakaku while he was bent over scraping mold off of a tree. He asked if she was ok, and when the women replied with a yes, he simply went back to his experiment. The woman was confused, most men would either bring her back to her family or take her as their own, but this one simply ignored her.
Curious, she decided to ask him what he was doing, he replied that he was finding out how mold grew, and how it affected the environment, she tilted her head, thinking, before suggesting a couple things, the two began to have a debate, questions flew from both sides, answers returned, and soft laughs drifted through the silent forest.
They worked together for many months, growing closer and closer, before finally, Hakaku asked if she would be betrothed to him, she agreed immediately. Eventually they were husband and wife, and both working together to uncover secrets.
Then, they came upon one question.
Could a human take on the qualities of animal? What effects would it have to the human body?
They wanted to find out. So begun another endeavor, they studied animals, trying to take their genes and somehow splice it other animals, seeing as how it was too early in the tests to try it on a human. Due to the lack of equipment for such a thing exciting in that time, it took many years.
Finally, they cracked the case, they found out how to merge two animals into one, the only step left was to find out if it could work on humans. They did not wish to drag some innocent bystander into the experiment, so they asked a noble lord if they could use his prisoners, the lord was more then welcome to the idea, he had no use for them, so why not?
Thus, began human experimentation, many did not survive the tests, except a few, who became grossly disfigured. Too stubborn to give up, the couple pushed through their disheartenments and kept on going, desperately tweaking the serum until it gave the desired effects. It took another couple years, but they succeeded. The first human-animal hybrid was created, they were overjoyed, and excitedly planned what to do next.
Then, Hakaku suggested the unthinkable.
Injecting themselves with the serum.
Kana was shocked, worried that it might end up ending their lives, but Hakaku was insistent, and assured her that all would go well, that the concoction was at it's peak of perfection. She soon caved.
The next day, they began, Kana injected herself with a feline's genes, while Hakaku was daring and gave himself both an eagle's and a rabbit's DNA. The cells of beast and human merged perfectly on a primal level, as if making the wheel of evolution spin backwards just enough so that they still had human intelligence but gained animalistic features. Their curiosity had changed them into something not quite normal, which is exactly what they had planed.
Satisfied, they moved away from civilization and deep into the woods wear they first met, they built a home, had children, and decided to keep their family line pure as to not tarnish their blood and eradicate many years of work.
Time passed, and the first Akazaki died, the line continued true, and untainted. Rumors and legends of animal-like humans drifted through nearby villages, but soon faded as no evidence was found. The genes of beasts were watered down slowly as time passed, tails, ears, fur and feathers soon disappeared from view, turning simply into enhanced senses or soft hair. One generation saw this change, and decided it was safe for the large clan to move back into the world of humans. The bloodline remained unblemished, as it was an ancient tradition to keep love within the clan.
In one recent generation, a male from the Akazaki clan courted with a normal human female, being curious, the clan didn't immediately reject him, they tried to have a child, but it was unfruitful. A few months later, the human girl fell deeply ill with an unknown disease and died shortly after. Superstitions of the Akazaki holding some illness fatal to normal humans made the clan once more shut itself away from outside love and remained that way.
Everything from the history of the Akazaki is now securely locked within Akazaki Hisa's study, where he looks through the old tomes' dusty pages, fascinated by the old discoveries of his clan. It was due to this, that he decided to try and bring back the strong animal genes from the early generations, he created a successful replica of the first Akazaki's serum, though weaker then before so no major changes occur, and it was due to his success that he decided to test it on his youngest son, Kiyoi, in the middle of the night, after that fateful day.
Thus, the features of the three original animals was re-introduced into the Akazaki bloodline.

And there you have it, why Kiyoi's bunny ears aren't entirely weird in his clan/family, just to the outside world!
If there are any questions about the Akazaki's history, then don't hesitate to ask! Also, pointers and constructive criticism is welcome.
Until the next chapter!~
