Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Boarding the plane, I followed behind the others to the back. Everyone took their seats, leaving one row of three seats, and Yoochun, Taemin and I standing in the isle. I took the middle seat between Taemin and Yoochun, to stop them from bickering throughout the plane ride, if they had intended to bicker in the first place.

Over the intercom, a female flight attendants voice boomed, "Hello passengers. Welcome to Jeju Airlines. We will arrive in roughly about one hour. Please feel free to ask staff services for anything needed. The staff will now demonstrate the pre-flight air safety. Enjoy the flight."

As the intercom quieted down, four well-dressed flight attendants came out and spread themselves among the narrow isle between the seats. They began the demonstration with buckling the belts, showing us how to buckle and unbuckle it, and also how to tighten and loosen it.

Oxygen masks dropped from a small storage area above our heads, that was once closed off, and they began to demonstrate how to put the mask on. Removing the mask, they drew out floating devices from the overhead bag storage and continued to demonstrate how to put it on, inflate it and how to use the other objects attached to catch people's attention in case of emergency.

Once they had finished, the seatbelt light flashed on above our heads, and I buckled myself in before leaning back in my seat and closing my eyes. I wasn't really good at flights, which is why I mostly avoided them, but come on, who could NOT go on a week long trip to Jeju-Do with friends?

As the plane began to ascend, I squeezed my eyes tighter and became stiff in my spot. I could feel two different people grabbing my hands, Taemin grabbing my right and Yoochun grabbing my left.

I held on tightly to both their hands until I felt the plane soar on a steady, straight flight. Releasing my tight grip on their hands, I slowly opened my eyes and let out a sigh.

Man, I should really get over my phobia for ascending flights.

After a few minutes of silence, the flight attendants started to push around the little trolleys that were stocked to the top with food and drinks. Once they had finished serving the people at the front of the cabin, they reached the back.

"Hello, may I get you anything?" The kind flight attendant looked to be quite young, maybe in her early twenties, as she smiled with crescent eyes at us.

"Uhm... Can I please get a can of Chilsung soda?" I leaned forward from my seat to grab the thin, tall can as the attendant handed it over.

"Anything for you boys?" She questioned, still wearing the bright smile that was once directed at me.

"I'll have what she had, please." Taemin and Yoochun replied at the same time. At that moment, their heads snapped towards each other and their eyes narrowed into slits. You could almost see the electricity that was being passed through to each other.

Before anything could happen, I quickly announced, "We'll take another two sodas, thanks." with a large smile that spread across my face.

The lady smiled back at me and handed me two more cans of Chilsung soda, before continuing her way to the back of the plane. Cleaning of the top of each can with a cloth, I popped each open and handed one to each of the guys.

They mumbled small a small 'thank's' before turning away and sipping on their sodas.

Sighing, I turned to see Taemin staring out the window, his can held to his mouth, while his other hand supported his head as he leaned it against the window glass.

Turning to my left, Yoochun sat, staring down at the isle floor, sipping his can of soda slowly. Letting out another sigh as I watched the two mope, I reached down for my carry-on luggage. Grabbing my Ipod and novel, I zipped my backpack up before proceeding to slide it under the chair in front of me.

I plugged my headphones in and turned the volume up, letting the music drown out the world around me, and opened up my novel and began to read.

Yoochun's POV

Everyone took their seats, and the only isle left was near the back, where the guys were. It was a three-seater isle and Taemin, Jaeyeon and I stood waiting to take a seat. She instructed Taemin to take the window seat, then proceeded to sit down beside him, waving me over to sit in the isle seat.

Following her wishes, I did so, and the intercom came on, announcing that the flight attendants were about to demonstrate air safety.

God, I've seen this so many times. I shook my head slightly but watched as they began their little demonstration.

The plane began to ascend and I noticed that Jaeyeon had here eyes shut tight and her body went stiff and rigid. I grabbed her hand, only to notice that her other hand was being held by Taemin.

That ass won't piss off! RAWR! I thought to myself, as I imagined myself as a giant, terrorising a miniature Taemin.

As the plane started to move on a steady, straight flight, Jaeyeon's hand, which was once clinging on tightly to mine, began to lose its grip, until she was able to slip her hand out of mine and place it on her lap, along with her other hand.

After a few minutes of silence, I spotted one of the flight attendants pushing down a trolley full of food and drinks. When she finally reached the back of the plane, she asked, wearing a smile, "Hello, may I get you anything?"

"Uhm... Can I please get a can of Chilsung soda?" Jaeyeon asked timidly, smiling up at the lady, who continued to smile while handing her a can.

She turned her gaze over to me, before glancing over at Taemin, asking, "Anything for you boys?"

"I'll have was she had, please." I said kindly, only to realise that I was not the only one who replied with it. I turned to glare at Taemin, and noticed he was glaring at me too. Our eyes turned into slits as we continued to glare. The atmosphere turned electric-y as we held each other's gaze.

"We'll take another two sodas, thanks." Jaeyeon announced quickly, smiling up at the air hostess. She smiled back, handing two more cans to Jaeyeon, who sighed as the flight attendant headed to the back of the plane.

As I watched Jaeyeon, my earlier anger dissipated. She wiped each of the cans off with a small cloth that was in her pocket, then popped them open, handing one to Taemin and one to me.

I mumbled a thanks, as did Taemin, before reverting my gaze to the isle floor, taking small sips of my soda.

I heard Jaeyeon sigh once more before leaning down to pick up her carry-on luggage. Curious, I watched as she drew out her Ipod and novel from her bag, before zipping it up and carefully sliding it back under the seat in front.

She plugged in her headphones, turning the music on at full blast, so loud that I could hear it from where I sat, then opened up her novel and began to read.

She sat there, reading her novel for about half an hour, before her eyes started to droop. I watched as each time the fell, she'd open them again and blink rapidly, only to have them slowly close once again.

In a matter of minutes she fell asleep, and began to lose her grip on her novel. As it was about to slip out of her grip, I grabbed it, book-marked it, then turned off her Ipod and slid them into her bag.

After I'd packed it away, I sat back and pushed her head carefully, so that it would rest on my shoulder. Proceeding to lean my head on top of hers, I grabbed her hand and held it, taking in her sweet scent.

From my peripheral vision, I could see Taemin frown, as he continued to stare at Jaeyeon's head on my shoulder. He fidgeted with his fingers and began to bounce his leg up and down, skulling down the rest of his soda before pulling out his headset and turning on his Ipod, trying to distract himself and keep himself from staring at Jaeyeon. He was trying to avoid getting angry over his jealousy.

I smiled to myself as I continued to hold onto Jaeyeon's hand, happy and content at the situation.

NOTE// Chilsung soda is basically a korean sprite, or lemonade :3 I've never actually tried it, but it sounds really nice, so :P
