Chapter 3: darkness can kill

Justin didnt like the way the forest felt now, he could feel the nervous energy radiating off himself and his friends. The forest which had only a few minutes ago given him a sense of peace now only filled him with dread. The cool air began creating a creepy layer of fog over the ground. His hands were lightly shaking as he held the weapon, even though the gun could blow a hole in the side of a person he didnt feel safe. Marvin was up front, with amy and justin followi close behind. He heard an owl hoot, he jumped at the noise. They were getting closer towards the source of the smoke. Justin looked up at the sky, the moon was slowly beginning to pass over the first tiny edge of the sun. He breathed outward and continued forward. The moon moved faster than he thought. In a few minutes the sun was 3 quarters covered, making the sky dark and the forest darker. Justin heard a branch break behind him. He jumped and spun around. Marvin and amy were both alerted by his movement. In the distance from the way they came be could hear something, like a leatber boot on soil. He raised the weapon to the frost coated bush and raised the sights. The small peg trembled inside the small sight circle as it centered on the bush. The sound got louder and closer. The darkness coated everything not wothin 5 feet of them. His heart sped up " hello?" he said shakily at the approaching sound. He was terrified. He saw marvin draw the hatchet in his prepheral vision. "hello?!" he said much louder. The. He saw it, about 10 feet into the foliage he could see 2 yellow lights, like eyes, staring through the bush. He leveled the scope at them mavin waved the hatchet at them "what the fuck! Get ou of the damn bush!" he waved the hatchet at the approaching lights. Justin saw the foliage begin to move. Hen he heard a noise "guk, gak? Gaauue!" the wet snarling broke through the bush as the same nazi soldier as before emerged from the bush intk their small clearing. His arms were outstretched, blood soaked his chin and down his neck. The hole in his side was uncovered, revealing a hanging loob of intestine and several broken robs. A large chunk of his calf was gone, causing him to move relatively slow. The thing stared a them inhumanly as it strode forward, arms outstretched, its grey skin slightly reflecting the tinted moonlight. Justin swore and fired the rifle at the soldiers head. The shot wizzed through the air and impacted beneath the nose, blowing everything above the lower jaw into red chunks. The shot echoed intk the bush. " w- what the fuck?" justin flailed his arms for a second. "WHAT THE FUCK?!" he bellowed. He felt a sharp pain and a leathery slap as marvin backhanded him in the face. " pull yourself together man!" he shouted. Right as he did all hell broke loose. The bushes all around them moved, making the darkness more terrifying than ever. 4 more gorified german soldiers emerged from the darkness, moving the same way the first one had. Amy screamed and drew a large machete from her belt. She swung it in a wide arc. It cut deep into an officers neck. Cutting he spine and making his head roll backwards, hanging on by a single flap of skin. Blood shot into the air from the socket and he collapsed. Marvin bellowed and brought the hatchet down intk the skull of another, cuttig deep with a loud crunch. The monster moaned then collapsed to the ground. Justin saw a soldier with no arms Pproaching, the bloody stumps stuck forward at rhe shoulder. He pulled the alide back and cocked it, loading another bullet in. Be hip fired it it the general direction of the soldier. The shot struck him in the chest. Sending him stumbling backwards and causing a splash of blood to burst from the wound. He cocked it again and fired again. The shot struck in the neck this time. Causing its bead to pop off like a beer cap. He turned to see amy brutally cutting down a soldier with her machete, slicing its arm off them futing its stomach open. Then all was silent. Marvin pointed at the ground; orviously shook up, " we are getting the hell out of here right now." just as he said that the bushes came alive with at least 20 pairs of yellow eyes. The mutilated soldiers and officers flooded out of the bushes, moaning and snarling at the group. "RUN!" amy screamed. Marvin cut off the top of an officers head before he following his friends back in the direction they were going. They sprinted through the cold bush. Justin was absolutely terrified. He felt like he was going to die any second. Then as if it had been here all along, a large metal wall appeard in front of them. He didnt brake in time and slammed into the Wall. He pushed away and looked at the wall; there was a massive german flag hanging off the huge wall. Justin swallowed hard.
