Sophia's POV:
As soon as Louis' lips brushed against mine, it was as if sparks flew up my body. He gasped, as if he felt it too. My arms went around him, only encouraging him further. His hand went behind my neck, pulling me closer. What started as a safe predictable kiss turned fiery, almost desperate. My stomach flipped as he quickly picked me up into his lap. His teeth gently nipped at my lower lip, making me let out a moan. Never had I been kissed so deeply, so passionately. As if it were the last kiss I would ever have.
As if he had feelings for me.
A knock on the door ruined everything.
He pulled away from me with red cheeks, his eyes hooded. The last few times we had moments of attraction he had looked guilty or conflicted. The way he was looking at me now, the only thing I saw was a newfound determination. "That's probably her." Giving me one last peck on the lips, he stood and opened the door. Speechless, I sat there on the floor, my fingers against my lips as I replayed the kiss over and over.
And then, in walked one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. With long black hair and shocking purple eyes, she came in shattering any confidence I had at what the kiss meant. "Louis!" Her arms went around him in a hug. "I was so worried about you!"
His arms went around her as well. "I know Ellen, but everything is-"
"Why," she said looking at me, interrupting Louis, "is there a drunk maid sitting on the floor of your room?"
Um, excuse me?
My eyebrows came together in a scowl, but before I could speak, Louis answered. "She is Sophia, the girl I wrote you about."
She tilted her head, a surprised smirk pulling at her mouth. "Oh, and here I thought you were doing something shameful, Louis. What an interesting getup to have her wearing. No one would think she is the beauty the king is after in that." She gestured to the plain gray dress and head wrap. Who does this girl think she is? I mean, I guess I do look a little like a maid, but doesn't she know why she came here?
I stood, trying my best to stand tall and seem completely sober. "Hi," I reached out my hand. "My name is Sophia. You are?"
She looked at my hand before her purple eyes rested on me again. "Ellen." She turned back to Louis, clearly done with me. "So this is what you summoned me for, to shield a girl that you foolishly decided to save? Even when doing so will put my life on the line?" She looked me over once more "You really should let this whole endeavor go, Louis. The king will find you." I didn't understand this woman. She was being so condescending it was ridiculous.
"That's why I need your help. I was thinking you would know a way to get her home? Maybe someone in the underground would be able to take her back to her world undetected."
What the heck. These two jerks were talking about me not only like I wasn't there, but as if I was a problem they were trying to hand off to someone else.
"Are you kidding? You think that there is a chance anyone, including me, is going to go against the king for a girl? What the hell are you doing, Louis?"
