Chapter 22

Louis' POV: 

"My name is Milly. I think it's time we had a little chat."

He looked at the young woman with narrowed eyes. He didn't trust her, not a bit. "I don't have any allies. I'm not sure why Adrian sent you down here, but it doesn't matter. Sophia and I, our connection is gone. It's over." 

She smiled knowingly. "Oh, it's far from over."

A shiver ran down Louis' spine. He didn't like this girl, whoever she was. And she didn't deny any involvement with the king. "You still didn't answer my question. Who are you?"

She continued to smile. "Like I said, my name is Milly. I'm a bit sad Sophia didn't tell you about me, though she was probably in a bit of shock. I serve her, as her head maid." She shifted in her seat. Louis couldn't help but feel creeped out by her. She seemed excited to be talking to him. "You see, Louis, I have been waiting for you to find yourself for a long time. Years. And now that you have your powers back, everything is almost in place."

"I don't understand. What are you even talking about?"

"I'm talking about a rebellion. A revolution. I want you to overthrow the king."

Louis coughed. What was wrong with this woman? Was he dreaming? "Are you insane? You want to overthrow the most powerful being in all of Kilader? Using ME?" He ran a hand through his hair frustrated when she nodded. "You do realize that I am a mockery of a wizard, don't you? Just because this seal was broken doesn't mean I am even half as powerful as I would need to be to defeat him. It will never work." 

She shook her head at him. "You don't understand, do you? The seal was put on you for a reason. Someone wanted to hide your powers from you. You are one of the most powerful beings in all of Kilader, Louis, and someone wanted to take it from you." She wove her fingers together in her lap. "And don't worry, I won't make you do this alone. Sophia will no doubt help you. The two of you are practically unstoppable now. Just think, the most powerful wizard the worlds has ever seen and the only being to have ever shared Adrian's essence. You two can move mountains together."

"What? Sophia did what?"

For the first time in the conversation Milly looked a bit guilty. "Adrian forged the blood bond with Sophia. She is no longer human." 

Louis didn't realize it for a moment, but he was pacing his cell. His hands were clutched so tight in fists that it hurt. But it didn't hurt nearly as much as his chest did. "That is why...The bond was broken because he changed her." He was almost mumbling to himself. "What did he change her to?" 

"Yes, Louis, however that is not why I came down here. We are losing time. If you want to take her back we have to act now." 

He stopped in his tracks and looked at her. "And why is that. What's going on?" 

"Well, the wedding is in two days. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that he intends to kill you as soon as the ceremony is over. And without you, Sophia has no chance of ever escaping him." 

Louis could feel the power rush through his veins again. Even though this Milly girl gave him a bad feeling, what she said surely made sense. Of course Adrian would want to continue on with the wedding now. "What do you propose we do?"

She smiled knowingly at him. "You are going to use that newfound power of yours and stop the wedding."
