Kid's P.O.V:

As the minutes droned on, Ella and I began to grow weary of our group's absence. "Patty and Liz are sure taking their time." Ella blandly stated, examining her scythe. Occasionally, she would pet the snake on it.

I looked at it thoughtfully. It was a nice snake, really. But, what's the deal with it? Clearing my throat, I summed up the courage to ask.

"So... What's with the snakes and smoke? Is it because you're Medusa's daughter?" Ella chuckled, the scythe dissipating into tendrils of red and black smoke that curled around her hand.

The snake then slithered up her arm. Its shape made its way up her arm to her neck, then turned into a tattoo running from her neck to possibly down her left arm. I couldn't tell because of her leather jacket.

As if on cue, she took off her jacket, revealing red and black designs on her left arm. It was like the scale design on her snake. Its head was visible, but only the designs on her arm were visible, much like Medusa's tattoos.

Ella smiled and put her jacket on. "Yes, snakes are kind of 'my thing' because I'm Medusa's daughter. But the only difference between us is that this snake is a part of my soul. If it dies, part of me dies with it." A grim expression then spread across her face.

I lightly ran my finger across her tattoo, making her flinch. "W-what part of you dies...?" I asked. She sighed, and murmured, "The part of me that's tied to Medusa."

Ella continued, knowing that what she said wasn't enough information. "If it dies, I'm no longer Medusa's daughter, for you see... I was once a snake."

She was trembling. I don't think she wanted to talk about it. I put my hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you're my best friend, you don't have to tell me right away." Ella let out a sigh. "No, I'll tell you." I nodded and let her continue telling her story.

"When I was born, I was born a snake in Medusa's body. One of her tattoos. I wasn't the same as every other snake. They were all black and had golden eyes, I was black and red and had white eyes. I was born with a soul. My own soul. Not a part of Medusa's, but my own. I was defiant. I didn't want to do bad. I didn't want to kill any people. So whenever Medusa took me out to attack, I never did. I was able to do this because of my soul." She paused, contemplating on what to say.

"Then... One day... Medusa took me out. But I never went back on her arm again. She turned me into a human. She called me her daughter." She shuddered at the thought, trying not to show her distaste towards that.

Despite her anger, she continued. "Medusa taught me all these things... How to turn the snakes in my body into my 'minions', how to use vector arrows and plates... And... How to tie a part of my soul to a snake. I did everything correctly. Then one day, she got Crona to kill me. And when I woke up... I didn't have a clue about my past life. I woke up in a house with my 'parents'... But... In my head, the name 'Medusa' was being repeated over and over again. She controlled me. And... I ended up inserting black blood into my parents."

By now, she was shivering. "When I came to my senses... It was too late. Medusa was controlling them. So... I ran... But then later... I ran into them on the streets and... They told me. They told me I was her daughter. My mom told me to use the snakes in me. She told me to survive... She said... To not let Medusa win."

She let a tear slip, but wiped it away as quickly as possible. "So if this snake dies, then all my powers... They'll be gone, and the snakes inside of my body will then be under Medusa's control. And we can't let that happen." Her voice cracked, causing her to cough in an attempt to cover it up.

I looked down. "So... Why not hide the snake inside of you? Won't that keep it safe?" She shook her head in denial. "Tried it. This snake connects me to all my power. If I keep it too bottled up inside me, then its power will eventually die out and join with the rest of my soul, making me powerless but not under Medusa's control. The snakes will have minds of their own that way because my snake isn't there to give orders. Otherwise saying that they're in control and they could rip me into shreds if need be. So, in order to keep everything intact, I use my snake as a weapon, ergo making me have to use my power constantly through battle."
