The smell of death radiated his nose like a disease. It follows him everywhere he goes and no matter what he does, he can't just seem to shake it off. The stench wouldn't bother him before. No, not at all, but today... Today is different. Kim Namjoon couldn't stop the scrunching of his nose or the shaking hand to groom back his mess of hair away from his face, perplexed eyes staring down at his families burial grounds.
Death, always fucking death. No amount of magic or spells that he has been taught could ever bring them-their souls- back to life, his mother taught him better when involving himself with dark magic. If only he was there during that time instead of getting fucked over with beer and a bunch of irrelevant mortals, maybe just maybe they would still be alive.
But no... They're dead and it's his fault, at least that's how he feels.
Namjoon's eyes wander around the graveyard to see it completely empty with only an elder man mowing grass in a distance, too old to even bend down without actually meeting the floor and unable to get up afterwards. Now thinking about it, he really hopes he doesn't fall. Than Namjoon will have to go over there and help him but and that's the least thing Namjoon wants to do at the moment.
He wants revenge.
He's craving it the moment he heard the news on the television of that damn bar: 'Another successful kill on a family practicing magic' then showing the picture of his parents messed up faces, covered in bullets that'll probably give people with Trypophobia a fucking heart attack. Namjoon remembers the next day being heavily questioned by his Sargent if he was also a wizard, like if the asshole thought he would be honest after the death of his family. Never has Namjoon's heart ever felt so cold until today, staring at his blood's grave, gnawing for revenge.
He bends down in a crouching position, staring at his parents names before mumbling a small spell under his breath. Two roses surge from the ground to bloom wide open in front of each headstone. He takes another look around to still see no one in sight that could've spotted him before placing a hand on his mother's tombstone.
"I promise you that this world won't stay like this forever mother," He promises, feeling his chest tightening slightly before standing up and walking past the endless tombstones of people different, like him and his family. Tombstones of vampires, werewolves, witches, angels, mermaids and the list continues.
People that were different from the mortals.
The government is lead by the 'normal' people or they refer to themselves as mortals, in wants of termination of those that are different, the immortals. They call them 'X', in which in other words means eXterminate.
This war has been going on far before the day Namjoon was born and the mortal citizens has managed put themselves at risk and try exterminate anyone that's an X so the world can be at peace and a 'better' place. Whatever the fuck that even means.
The American President now has gained much popularity after he made the call to give permission to the government to use any source of enforcement to exterminate the immortals in their cities, spreading the influence to kill immortals like a virus to other countries, and it's just been full chaotic against X and any other mortals. The army was no given the duty to go on hunts and managed to terminate any X they spotted.
Some managed to stay hidden for years but eventually found by officials and then follows death. Namjoon was lucky that the order was given while he was in the military and he got along well with the high officials to be heavily questioned. However he had to join some of the raids and kill those who were an X. Some women, some children, shit even a damn orphanage that was full of werewolves and Namjoon couldn't do anything about it instead just follow orders and hoping it'll get easier.
