Subject X

Chapter 4

Namjoon wasn't able to sleep throughout the whole night. His senses were too alert and every snap he heard kept triggering his paranoia that someone possibly found them, then later realizing it was an animal or just a bird. He watched at the sun rise from within the woods and he couldn't help but only let out a small sigh, knowing it was going to be a long day ahead for him and mostly looking after seven supernatural beings, including himself.

Before anyone could wake up, he calls his friend Chen in hopes he could help him with their hairstyles today. Chen is a Warlock and a damn good one for sure. They would go over spells together as teenagers and helped each other blend in with the other mortals. Namjoon doesn't or wouldn't like to think about life without Chen in it, his best friend. So when Namjoon asked for the favor, he thought the man was psychotic for doing something as dangerous as letting out X subjects, not just one but six! However, since Namjoon is his best friend, he closed the barber shop for the day just so he can focus on them when they arrived. Soon after calling Chen, he dialed Jihoon's number, his sister's boyfriend. Namjoon would communicate from time to time with the young man, knowing he was going to propose to his sister but sadly Xiao died in the fire along with Namjoon's parents, so it never happened. Jihoon works for an underground market for all super naturals. He's the lead stylist and manager of a fashion store, so if anyone can help these boys with clothes, it'll be him. Jihoon easily agreed to it and told him to come as soon as the boys wake up.

The minute Namjoon finishes with his calls, Yoongi wakes up. Just like Namjoon, Yoongi wasn't able to sleep well; always rustling in his sleep and he knows it's his wolf begging to come out. But Yoongi knows if he lets his wolf now, who knows where he'll end up and who he'll hurt and maybe even get caught, so he'd rather wait until it's officially safe to transform. Not only that but he was listening to Namjoon's conversation due to his enhanced hearing and just decided to get this over with, so mind as well wake up.

Namjoon watches as the rest of the boys wake up one by one as time passes except for Jimin. Jungkook tried waking him up but he wouldn't budge, and that sent immediate alarm bells for Namjoon. Jimin is probably extremely dehydrated due to the lack of water in his body, mostly since he didn't take his medication that X.E.F provide for him last night just so he wouldn't end up like this when he has no contact with water.

With a wave of Namjoon's hand, he shifts a portal from midair and everyone immediately goes through with Jin carrying Jimin. The setting is different. They're at a beach. The sun is rising in the horizon and the ocean is sinking farther back than how it was previously. Jin started approaching the small waves hitting the shore until he was at least hip level in the water before laying Jimin gently on the surface.

"Sink him in, he's practically half fish!" Hoseok shouts over from the shore and Seokjin follows his instructions, pushing Jimin's body further down to the water until he reached the sea floor. Jin stares at the young man with worried eyes, hoping this actually won't drown him instead of saving him. He can barely feel Jimin's heart beat against his hand and it only raised his worry when time continue to pass and Jimin wasn't waking up.

Jungkook watch with concerned eyes to the scene and his nature to help begin crawl his skin, especially now that he's going to be stuck with them for a while. So, with a nervous hand, he begins to approach the shallow waters of the shore, laying his hand just above the surface before whispering a prayer underneath his breath.

Everyone watches the young man with curious eyes, especially Taehyung. He didn't want to believe that what he's doing would actually work. He has tried it multiple times in the past and it never did, it never healed anyone, only caused pain. He only caused destruction no matter how much good he tried to do, yet his curiosity grew to the young angel as he watches a small tear stream down his cheek and tap the water lightly. The spot it hit began to glow and trail all the way to where Jin and Jimin is, the glow circulating around them. Jungkook rises to his feet with a small smile on his lips and feels the warmth in his chest knowing he did something good.
