Before I Die

Chapter 5

"Hey Mum!" I said as I walked through the doors, into my house.

My mum was in the kitchen, cooking dinner. She raised her head as she heard the sound of my voice coming in the house after a whole day.

"Hello darling!!!" She answered and rushed over to hug me. "How was your day? Did you feel ok?"

"Yes mum, it was fine. Except I kind of felt bad in the middle of Biology. I went to the nurse and she said I was fine."

"Ok honey. By any chance, did the nurse give you a note or anything to give me?" She asked.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry I totally forgot. She gave me this note just to explain what happened. It's in my bag, I'll give it to you at dinner. I have some homework to do right now. See you later. Call me when the food is ready!" I say.

"Ok, see you! Don't get distracted by what's happening outside!" She smiled and kept cooking the pasta.

I skipped the stairs and rushed over to my bedroom.

My house is quite big for only 2 people.

It's 4 floors. It was supposed to be for three, but my dad died when we were about to move in.

I opened my Biology textbook and started scribbling down some notes on

a notepad very quickly and then lifted up the top of my laptop. I opened a google chat with Em.

Hey Em! What u up 2? Just finished my Bio, u?

Oh, hey Cath! Yep, just 'finished' my Bio 2. I'm bored now... What should we do?

17:34 Cathy

I have no idea. Do u wanna come over? I'll ask my mum first though. Wait there...

Ok. Sure. I'll wait right right here. Be quick! ;)

I run down to the kitchen. My mum is not there.

I call her name. No response.

Then, I see a small note lying on the kitchen table. I lift it up. It's from Mum.

It says:

I went out to do some grocery shopping. I'll be back in less than an hour. You can invite Emily to come over... once you have finished your homework though! See you later,

Mum.

Ok. Great I think. Just what I was looking for, a very clear YES as an answer. I grin and go back to my room.

I open the chat again and see 3 messages from Emily.

I'm back. U have no patience! I only left u for only 10 minutes.

30 seconds later...

"Knock! Knock!"

I run down the stairs.

"I'm here!" Em shouts from behind the door.

"I know that." I reply. "I'm trying to open the door. Be patient!" "Fine, but hurry!" She says and sighs.

"Chill. I'm done."

I open the door and let her in.

She grins and runs up to my room. She sits on my bed and unfolds our list of things to do before I turn 18.

I skim read it and say, "Oh yeah! We should surely organise a party!!!"

"Yep! That's what I was thinking. Ok girl, let party plan. We should have it on the 11th of May, in that way it will be a month before your birthday." "Ok, perfect." I reply.

"That gives us 3 months to prepare it!" She confirms.

With that, we start making a rough plan of how we want it to be and who to invite.
