"How peculiar was it that I couldn't get the little blond boy out of my head."
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃"(Y/n), are you even listening to me?" Kurenai questioned, waving her hand trying to get (y/n)'s attention. She only blinked confused, before bashfully shaking her head. "I'm sorry what were you saying?" (Y/n) awkwardly said, lightly tapping her fingers on the table anxiously.
"Are you okay (y/n)? You've been spacing out for the whole day." Kurenai asked concerned, a frown spreading on her face as she closely examined her friend. "Ah, sorry I've just got a lot on my mind it seems." She softly said, not wanting to really explain what she was contemplating about. Hoping Kurenai would drop the new topic, but she never could get exactly what she wanted.
(Y/n) internally panicked, watching how her friend slyly smirked. Her ruby red orbs glittering with mischief and trouble. (Y/n) could only brace herself for what was about to come to her. Fully intending to dodge any sort of question that really didn't have to do with what she was actually thinking. She felt a cold sweat slide down her neck, making her shiver slightly or from Kurenai's intense stare. She couldn't really decided.
"Is it a boy (y/n)? Are you crushing on somebody?" All of (y/n)'s answers flew out of her mind. Her brain went blank for a few moments, her mouth opening up only to close, for it to open back up again. And then the question dawned to her. (Y/n)'s face flushed brightly, even more at Kurenai's amused giggle. As she tried to deny any chance of her liking anyone, but her sputtering and stuttering didn't seem to help her out.
"Do I know them? Is—." Kurenai was rudely cut off by another fellow shinobi. Making her roll her eyes in annoyance, while (y/n) silently thanked the gods and let out a quiet sound of relief. "What are you two lovely ladies taking about?" Genma smoothly asked, flashing them a quick smile. Finding it amusing at how (y/n) shook her head rapidly and sent out a pleading look before looking at the girl across from her who was once more smirking.
"Our little (y/n) here is crushing on someone we know." Kurenai stated proudly, ignoring how (y/n) groaned and buried her face into the palms of her hands. While Genma just gasped exasperatedly and poked (y/n)'s pink tinged cheek.
"Is this true (y/n)?" Genma questioned, finding it hard not to laugh at how quickly she turned pink and tried to deny it through a mess of stuttering. She eventually gave up on her protesting, crossing her arms over her chest and pouting. She knew that in this moment she was acting just like a child would but it honestly felt right for this situation.
"You know I bet she likes Kakashi. It wouldn't surprise me if she did. Everyone seems to like him." Genma bitterly said, not because he liked (y/n) but because it seemed like the whole female population liked him. Really, what was so great about him? He was as emotionless as a rock. Okay maybe that was offensive towards the rock.
"I don't like Kakashi nor do I like anybody else." (Y/n) denied before standing up and waving bye, "I have somewhere to be. I'll talk to you guys sometime." As she walked away from her annoying yet lovable friends, she noted that leaving so suddenly could be made into that she did indeed like somebody but was being secretive. A crush was not what she needed at the moment. What she needed was to know more about the little boy she meet previously.
She didn't know why the little boy caught her fascination. She's tried asking herself but never came up with decent answers. Maybe it was because he was alone in the forest? Or maybe because his blue eyes held a deep sense of loneliness that (y/n) knew so well?
The last thought hit her hard, she could only guess that's why she was fascinated with the little boy. She knew about loneliness and experiencing it firsthand at such a young age.
When she first looked the boy in the eyes, she could tell how lonely he was but hid it quite well. And it his age it only hurt her because nobody should ever feel lonely. But that wasn't the only emotion that shone through his blue orbs but others such as fear and confusion. The prominent emotion being fear. A young child shouldn't live in fear and it made her question why he was fearful.
That only fueled more internal questions in her mind. None of them that she could answer herself. Letting out a frustrated groan, her hand unconsciously went to her short white hair and tugged a lose strand. Continuing her slow pace back to her apartment, wanting to be alone for the rest of the day. Taking a glance at the passing forest, she couldn't help but let the small smile that spread on her face. Tomorrow would she go to the field in hopes of meeting the young child.
