Derek lead her far from the others, to where they couldn't hear the conversation they were about to have. He eventually stopped. Leila paused a bit away from him and he sighed, turning his head and looking at her.

"So you survived." This time it felt like the link was separated from the one before. As if it was a personal link between the two of them. She snorted.

"I suppose I did,"Leila told him. He turned towards her, looking at her quietly. His eyes swept over her.

"Well, I guess I'm not bothered by that. That means a part of myself didn't die." Derek sat back on his haunches. He looked away from her.

"I'll never accept you as my alpha!" Her voice from their last conversation resurfaced. He flinched, frowning. Leila stared at him before sighing and sitting down just like he had.

"I've been informed, through both my pack, and myself as the link appeared when I transformed, that you are to be my alpha,"Leila spoke. Derek looked up at her, his silver eyes connecting with her blue ones. Silence hung between them for a moment. She looked down at the ground. "I've also been informed I was a Luna. This means that you and I...." Derek took a deep breath. If he'd have had human hands he would've run one through his hair.

"So, your plan is to reject me this time. As I've done you, correct?"Derek thought. Leila blinked in surprise, looking back up at him. The wolf had turned his gaze away, looking off to the side. She could see, in his one silver eye, that something was bothering him. Derek waited for her response. Her eyes were wide. He's hurting about something? Does he not want me to reject him? Leila swallowed. She stood upright, stretching. Derek turned his head, walking as she padded over to him. She stopped in front of him. "What?"

"I don't know why you have that sort of look,"Leila spoke. She looked up at him. She gave him a disbelieving look. "Don't you want me to reject you? To leave you alone?" Derek looked down at her. Her eyes flicked back and forth between his silver ones. She stared up at him with confusion. Derek felt his heart racing as he gazed at her. What's the correct way to answer that? Do I want her to reject me? He wondered. Something inside him screamed "no". That was the only answer he got.

"It would be inconvenient if you did,"Derek muttered. He closed his eyes, letting out a puff of air from his snout. His claws dug into the ground. He could feel it. The wolf inside of him, or outside, wanted to take over completely and mark the wolf in front of him as his. Derek growled at his wolf, warning him not to do that. Leila stared at him hard. She backed away from him.

"You're serious? Really? After all of that shit?"Leila seethed. Growls rose from her chest. Derek sighed, opening his eyes and looking at her.

"What are you getting angry for?"Derek asked her. Leila bore her teeth at him. "I gave you an answer. Do you want me to reject you?" Leila jolted to a stop in her growling. She stared at him. Leila turned away from him, walking a bit away. "What?" She stood still, knowing what she was feeling. Her human half longed for his soul to be joined with hers, for them to be together. Her wolf half wanted to exact same thing. That could only mean one thing...he's supposed to be her mate in wolf form and in human form. Leila looked down at the ground. Fate truly is cruel isn't it? She thought. She closed her eyes and looked up at the moon visible between the leaves of the trees.

"I don't want you to reject me,"Leila admitted. Derek's breath caught. Leila slowly turned her head and looked at him over her shoulder. Her eyes caught his own. "For some reason, I would hate to have that happen." She sighed and turned around again.
