The first words that came out from my mouth were "Fish Taco Tuesday?"
He looks at his shirt and then back at me and says with an arched eyebrow, " Yeah, is that a problem?"
"No, not at all. Just curious to why you're wearing a shirt clearly made for Taco Tuesday?" I said.
"I felt like wearing it today."
"I see."
"Do you want to come inside and have a drink of water or something?"
"Sure. But let's make it quick. My dad will be wondering where I am."
"No problem. Come on in." He said as he sidestepped to let me into the house.
I walk in and admire how big his house was as I heard him close the front door. The front foyer had marble floors and stone pillars along with that cathedral like ceiling to it.
"Want some water before you go?" He asks me.
"Yeah sure, I would like some water, thanks."
We walked in the kitchen which was totally huge just like like the house itself.
As he's getting me a glass of water, I said "Your house is pretty amazing. My house isn't as big as this."
"Yeah it sure is. But I also feel like it's a bit much, you know? The glamour and that, I mean."
"I guess I can see that. I mean you have it all but still want to be normal and not just some rich kid."
He smiled, probably glad that I could understand a little bit of what he might be going through.
Once I had drank the water, he offered if he could give me a lift home.
I politely accepted since I probably wouldn't have gotten back home in the dark myself anyway.
We went to the garage where I found out that he owned a white Jeep.
"What about my bike?" I asked.
"I'll put it in the back of the car. Let me get it real quick." He said before hurrying to go and get it.
Once he came back with my bike and put into the back of the car and then we both got into the car and left the house.
"So, I am guessing you're new to town if you got lost right?" He said breaking the silence.
"Yeah, I am. I start school on Monday." I said.
"Oh cool. At which school?"
"At Vina Private Academy."
"No way. I go to that school. How did you get in? Usually it's for people like me." He said surprised.
"My Dad and the dean were old college buddies a long time ago." I said.
"I see. So, I guess he make an exception this time because of that right?"
"That and he had heard that we were moving here and offered to give me a scholarship so I could go to school there since as you know, we're not rich."
"Well, that was very nice of him."
"Yeah it was. Oh stop here. That's my house. The blue one there." I said pointing to my house.
He stops in front of my house and parks.
"Here we are."
"Yeah we are. Thanks for helping me." I said.
"Yeah no problem."
"Well, I get inside before Dad flips. It was nice talking to you. Maybe I'll see you at school on Monday."
"Yeah I had fun talking to you too. I will definitely see you there possibly."
"Well, see ya."
"Yeah see ya."
I get out of the car and grab my bike from the trunk of the car. But before I went inside, I turned around to ask him for his name but by the time I did, he was already gone. Like it never happened at all.
