three years ago

two boys sat the beach with their feet in the ocean. they let the cool water cover their toes before it would retreat back. this was something they were used to.

virginia was there home and that meant that in their free time the two boys would go to the beach. this time though it meant more than that. jonah was leaving for college and corbyn was staying behind. they were going to be separarted.

when corbyn had first learned that his best friend was leaving he wasn't okay with it. he and jonah had never been the type of the people to have a lot of friends. jonah was all that he had.

still jonah needed to go back to minnesota and to st. olaf college. that's where his family was from. his grandma was in bad health and of course corbyn had to let him go. jonah needed to be with his grandma.

corbyn looked at the brunette that sat next to him. "do you realize this might be our last time at the beach together." "no," jonah said. "i'm going to make you a promise right now. we are going to go the beach again. i'll come home every summer. we aren't going to stop being friends because of the distant. i promise you."

the words made corbyn happy. jonah and him were meant to stay as friends. he knew that they were going to be okay.

he hugged jonah a little tighter and smiled. "thank you"

jonah's first day

"hey!" corbyn said as his friend's face appeared on the screen. "how was it?" jonah grinned, "it was great! i meant so many people and i love my teachers!" corbyn smiled right back at him. "i miss you." he said. "i miss you too but i promise i'll come home as soon as i get the chance."

corbyn nodded. jonah gaze suddenly turned off the screen on his laptop and onto his phone. he had gotten a text message from a kid in one of his classes, zach. the boy was inviting him to go to a party.

"hey corbs?" he asked. "yeah?" "this kid wants me to go to a party with him and some other guys. i think i'm gonna go cause i want to make some friends. is that okay?" corbyn looked at his friend through the screen of his computer. "yeah go have fun but don't forget about me." he said jokily. "how could i?" jonah logged out a few seconds later.

corbyn smiled, jonah was already settling in. plus he had friends which was something that he didn't have before. it seemed like college was going great for his best friend and corbyn was happy for him.
