Lajo sat next to Shree, who lay on the hospital bed, all dressed up.
They had their flight in about two and a half hours.Aayu came out of the washroom, being helped by the nurse to straighten her top.
Abhishek hugged his sister gently.
"I hope you're okay Princess."
"I really am Da. You needn't worry."
Anushka stood near the window, on a call with Rekha Masi.
"Yes Ma, they've left already. Yeah, we'll be moving out in ten minutes Maa.
Okay I'll inform him. Alright.
Bye!"Anushka cut the call and walked up to her husband.
"Maa said they've already been the bus. The attendants are there in Merlin Blue and we just need to rush our luggages out of the bungalow. Otherwise, everything is fine.""Okay."
Da nodded."But Abhishek," Miley suddenly started talking.
"Things ended with such a bad note. I feel so crappy I couldn't help."She gazed hard at the floor.
Anushka looked on.
"Miley, the biggest regret remains. And I seriously don't have any idea why someone would want to ruin our wedding, by hurting Shree.
But can we really change the situation?
We can't."Miley felt this sudden urge to blurt the name out to her friend who commited the crime.
But she wasn't Meg.
She knew how to control herself, so she did.Just then, an attendant walked in.
"Sir! The car's here.""Ah, alright. I'm moving down with the luggages. Miley, Tani and Jisha, help me out. Anu, Tama and Lajo, bring Aayu and Shree."
Abhishek ran down the stairs with the luggage. Right then, when he met the doctor.
"Ah, sir! We're leaving."
"I know that Abhishek. But, was it indeed required for you to leave like this? Like, Shree and Aayu are fine but you could have waited a bit more for them to be all okay."
Abhishek nodded. The doctor was right but he had his reasons.
"Doctor, firstly, I don't have any intention of staying back in Delhi with my family after what happened yesterday. Moreover, both Aayu and Shree pressed me to leave Delhi as soon as possible. They find it really uncomfortable here doctor, and I can't help."Dr. Keshav nodded.
"I get it, just see they don't come across any form of fire or smoke for the next few days. They'll need time to recover completely.""Thank you doctor."
And Abhishek moved down the stairs, a gentle smile appearing on his face. Delhi wasn't good to them, neither did the grand Indian wedding end with a good note.
He couldn't help but smirk at himself, at his own uselessness.
That was sheer hurt, sheer pain he smiled at.••••••••
The seven girls were already comfortably seated inside the XUV. Anushka sat beside Shree while Abhishek boarded on to the front seat.
"Everything's in place?""Yes," Tani nodded.
Abhishek signalled the driver.
And the car left the hospital parking lot for the Airport.Right then, a tinkle of earrings could be heard from behind a car in the parking lot.
"Maybe what I did was just too indecent. Maybe what I did was just too cruel?"
Meg emerged out.
"You've made a loser out of yourself, Meghna. You neither could become Hoseok's, nor mine."
Avigyan's word's played in her head, on repeat.
"I'll leave for Canada tomorrow Morning, donot ever dare contact me back."
"I'll call Dadu."
She whispered to herself. The call went on.
"Meg?""Dadu?!"
Her voice sounded teary.
"Meg? Finally you remembered me?"
The old man blurted out with a similar emotion in his voice."Dadu, where are you? Is Vasant Chacha there?"
"Meg? What happened? Why are you suddenly asking me so many questions beta?"
"Da-Dadu, who took care of you all this while?"
"Beta, you weren't here for 5 months, so Vasant came over. But are you returning?"
Meg looked at herself. Her hands. She rounded his palm into a tight fist and smirked.
"Returning Dadu? I'll tell you about that later. But will you be alright if I take some more time?"
"How much time do you need Meg, to be back?"
Meg shook her head.
"I'll call you later Dadu."She cut the call.
Helping herself on her feet, she walked around the parking lot, frequently smiling and blinking her lashes."I tried killing Shree.
I almost killed Aayu.
I fake loved Hobi for his money.
I left Avigyan cuz he was broke.
I left Dadu cuz he tried inducing all good manners in me.
I left Jisha, Tani, Lajo, Tama.
WOw."She suddenly started laughing, like she was insane, oblivious of the world outside.
She clutched in to her jeans and laughed her heart's content."Hah! I-I tried killing Shree? Wh-Whaoh...Hahaha! Cuz , coz she stopped Hope from talking to me? Wow, cuz , cuz she......Haha! HAHAHAHAA! She knew I was playing a game! For that I tried killing.... HAHAHA! WOW MEG, WELL DONE GIRL! And in your beau.... HAHAHA.... Beautiful attempt, you tried killing Aayu!
You're cursed Meg, you're cursed."She fell flat on the cement floor, still laughing, still clutching on to her jeans.
And suddenly stopped. She fished her phone our of her pocket and moved her fingers faster than she ever did.
".... and, send."
Meg thumped her head back at the wall. She raised her chest high and waited.
A man walked past the parking lot, without noticing Meg.
She smiled."I don't think anyone needs me anymore. Dadu is well with Vasant Chacha and Avigyan is off for Canada.
What am I gonna do of my loser self?"The spree of laughter returned.
But this time, it had pain, it had anxiety, it had loneliness.
Meg couldn't possibly help the tears not to roll down her cheeks.
"Why Meg, why?"
She whispered to herself.
"They all loved you. They all cared for you. Why was it that you only cared about yourself? Why is it that you grew so selfish that you grew thirsty of a human life? Why, Meg why?"And right then she heard the resounding uproar of a plane.
The very plane that had just taken off for Kolkata.
The very plane that had the seven girls in it.
The very plane at which Abhishek and Anushka stared as it took off as it disappeared in the light blue sky.
The very plane which Meg saw and knew what she had to do next. She stood up on her feet, fished out a blade out of her jeans pocket, grabbed it hard in her right hand, placed it on her left wrist and slid the blade across her wrist.
THUD.
"I paid back for what I did."
