(Deans POV)
It was Wednesday evening and I couldn't wait for the time to stop dragging itself, so I could get back to my wife. I missed Sharon so much and I wished I didn't have all that work.
I had just visited one of my plantations, to supervise the planting process, and I still had a couple of more to visit. The workers had come a long way to being that perfect, and they could literally do it on their own, but I still loved being there with them. I remember the first time I was training them, I had to plant half the plantation by myself. This time, they did everything perfectly on their own. They even beat me at my own game.It was just exquisite and encouraging to work with them.
That day seemed particularly weird because I was missing Sharon like crazy. I even started hallucinating about her - I saw her at the plantation, working with me and then she asked me to take some water. Pretty creepy, I am aware.
Even if it was just by a day, that was the longest I had stayed without seeing Sharon, ever since we started dating. That was because I had travelled on Monday, very early in the morning, while Sharon came from their soiree later in the day, so I did not get to see her that day.
I finally stepped into the soothing temperature of my parent's home , and I almost collapsed with happiness. It was really hot out there.
I sat on the floor since my clothes were soiled and if I ruined my mom's couch, I wouldn't get to hear the end of it.My eyes squeezed shut as my skin savored the friendly temperature. I saw Sharon's face, again, this time she was smiling down at me and telling me that I should take some water and put my tongue back inside my mouth, since the temperature regulating method I was using, only worked with dogs.
I opened my eyes and smiled, seeing that she was not there and my tongue was actually jutting out.
Man, I was codependent to Sharon.
I was really exhausted and needed water urgently, but no one was home at the moment. So, I walked into the kitchen to fetch myself a glass of water. I searched through the drawer for a glass but did not see any, all I could see were plates in plenty.
What the fudge?
I was getting impatient as the harshness of the thirst got the better of me. I yanked the fridge door open and grabbed a bottle of water. As I was leaving the kitchen, I saw Sunday's paper lying pretty next to the trash can. It seemed like someone wasn't careful enough at tossing it away properly. If they meant to.
"Might as well read it."I shrugged, picking it up, then walking up to my room
I kicked my shoes off and threw my tired and dirty body on my bed. The first page piqued my interest as it talked about Jackstone Company particularly, THE PARTY.
" Sharon put together that event" my lips curved into a smile as the echoes of her complaints resonated in my head. My nerves tingled with curiosity to learn more about how it went. I hoped she had fun-she deserves it.
Seeing an image with a caption of 'EXECUTIVE STAFF', I found myself reading through. I was interested in learning the latest about Jackstone assembly. The last time I was in contact with them was when my dad bought his recent car, almost a year ago. My old man had forced me to tag along and I hated being a third wheel there. Mr. Jackstone had my dad spent the entire time reminiscing about senile stuff, leaving me twitching uncomfortably on my seat.
Jackstone was a friend of dad's and he wanted me to be friends with his idiotic son, but That brat wanted what was mine. I hope he never comes back from Kakamega.
However, it confused me whenever Sharon trash-talked her boss.Mr Jackstone was a sweet old man who couldn't hurt a fly, but I knew better than to say a word to contradict her. She actually thought I had no idea about who she was working with. How sweet?
