Song of the chapter: taxi cab by twenty one pilots

It had been a week since the incident before French. Josh had been thinking about it all week. He didn't think it was fair that Oliver was aware that everyone talked about him behind his back and the though that him and Matt made Oli feel bad was enough to keep Josh up at night.

Josh decided that the best thing to do was approach Oliver and apologise for being rude towards him. This may or may not also have something to do with he fact that Josh found Oliver slightly attractive, even if he was rude and closed-off. Josh would never admit the fact that he thought Oliver was good looking, he knew his friends would have lots to say about the case. They would try and convince Josh that Oli was crazy and a murderer like his father.

Patty, Josh and Jordan were stood in the hallway after school, waiting for Matt to arrive so that they could walk home together. Oliver was leaning against his locker, waiting till the school was clear so that he could slip to the nearby convenience store. He needed to wait till all the students were a safe distance from the school, so that no one would question him snooping around in the nearby store and buying cigarettes he was too young to get without a fake ID.

Josh approached Oli swiftly, grabbing onto his wrist gently to grab his attention. Oli had headphones in and his eyes were closed, as he leant his head on the lockers and pretended he was anywhere but here. He pretended that he was a normal teenager, with normal parents that took care of him, instead of murderous father and a mostly absent mother. Josh though Oli looked cute like this, his face relaxed as his long eyelashes touched his cheeks and his posture casual.

Oliver flinched when Josh's warm fingers wrapped around his cold skin. His eyes sprang open in surprise and he stepped to the side impulsively. When his eyes landed on Josh's blue ones, he looked surprised and confused, glancing around to try and work out why Josh was stood in front of him.

"I wanted to apologise for making you feel uncomfortable before French the other day," Spoke Josh not waiting for Oliver to respond as he started talking again. "You know when me and Matt were talking about you. Just so you know I don't believe the rumours about you, I think you seem like a really nice guy."

Oliver stared at Josh, thinking carefully about what he should do next. He didn't know if Josh was being sincere or not, but from Josh's nice-guy reputation, he assumed he was. Oliver frowned.

"Umm thanks I guess, nobody's ever apologised to me before." Replied Oli, looking at Josh who was smiling widely.

Josh was the kind of person that Oliver wishes he was; sweet, innocent and happy to be alive. Josh was like a big ball of sunshine, whereas Oliver was more like a thunderstorm. Oli could image Josh lying in bed last night, thinking of all the ways he could possibly apologise to him, the though almost made Oli smile. But he didn't.

Instead, Oli pulled Josh's hand off of his wrist and walked away silently. He didn't want to have a full conversation with Josh, scared that Josh would try and become too close to him and find out way too much. Oliver liked his privacy, no matter how much he fantasised about having friends sometimes. He didn't want Josh finding out his person information and then go trying to fix all the cracks in his life. He didn't want to become Josh's charity case simply because the blue eyed boy felt sorry for him.

Oliver walked straight out of the school as Josh watched him in shock. He didn't expect their conversation to end that quickly. Maybe getting friendly with Oliver would be harder than he had first anticipated, seen as though the boy could only get in one sentence before the other stormed off.

Never the less, Josh still wanted to talk more with Oli. He truly believed that there was a good person in everyone, even someone with such a fucked up reputation as Oliver Sykes.

Josh decided that he would just leave the school as well, his interest in walking home with his friends was gone, he didn't want them to start asking him questions about his brief conversation with the most feared boy in the school.

Joshed walked out the gates and started heading for his house. Just as he was walking past the small Sainsbury's by the corner of the school, he spotted Oliver exiting the small convenience store. Josh walked to the other side of the street so that he would meet with Oli just as he left the building. Oliver turned his head when he saw Josh walking right beside him, but decides to stay quite as he's not in the mood to have a conversation right now.

The two boys walk in complete silence for the next ten minutes, until they get to the split between the roads to the north and south side of town. They both come to a halt, neither knowing what the other would do now.

"See you at school." Smiled Josh, looking up at Oliver, seen as though Josh was the shortest of the two and only reached Oliver's chin. Oli nodded, not wanting to give Josh the impression that they were good friends now, tho he didn't want Josh to think of him as rude.

Josh saw Oliver's nod and smiles wider, his blue eyes crinkling at the corners and his nose scrunching up slightly. He watched as the dark haired boy walked off towards the north side, almost tripping over a crack in the path as he started walking backwards towards his own house, his eyes fixated on Oliver's body until he was just a blur in the distance.
