Chapter 16

Song of the chapter: in the dark by bring me the horizon

Going back to school after the holidays was the worst, and Oliver was pretty sure he would rather walk on burning hot coal then spend another week at that hell they called secondary school. He was at the end of his tether with everything. He honestly just wanted to curl up in bed and do nothing till year 12. But that wasn't an option. If he stopped coming to school, the teachers or child services would show up at his house, and then they would find out about Oli's mum neglecting her children and would take them away and split them up from each other. Oliver would never let that happen to Tom, he relied on Oli for everything. Maybe Oli was overreacting about school, but he didn't care.

"Hey it's Oliver Syko!" Shouted the last person that Oli wanted to see right now. He internally rolled his eyes before turning around to see Josh's whole friendship group except Josh.

"Why isn't you're boyfriend here now? Murder him in his sleep or something." Laughed Jordan like it was the best joke he had ever heard.

"Maybe they banged so hard last night that Josh can't walk to school." Added Patty, causing the whole group to laugh. Oli sighed before rolling his eyes and turning away.

"Where you going Syko? We are talking to you." Matt said whilst grabbing Oliver's s arm harshly. "What? You fucking retarded dude, answers me back."

Oliver turned around in a flash of fury as his fist collided with Matts jaw and knocked him to the floor violently, dragging Oli to the floor as well. Oli pinned Matt to the ground and continued to punch him as Matt struggled pathetically beneath him. Josh's friends backed off in fear, not even attempting to help their friend that was currently bleeding pretty heavily from his mouth and nose.

"Ols?" Josh's soft voice was laced with shock, as he stood looking wide eyed at his boyfriend and best friend struggling against each other on the ground.

"Josh. I-I-I." Oliver stuttered as he moved off of the blonde boy quickly, as if Matt's body was burning him like acid.

"Oliver what have you done?"

"I-I don't know, i didn't mean to-" Oliver looked up at Josh with pleading eyes before getting up off the floor and backing away. The two boys stared at each other for what felt like eternity, Oli panting heavily as he tried to hold back a panic attack.

"I told you he was fucking dangerous Josh, violent bastard just attacked me for no reason!" Matt chocked as he coughed dramatically.

"Is this true Oli?" Josh asked calmly, refusing to meet Oliver's eye contact.

Oliver opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. His mind was completely black as he tried to speak and breath at the same time. He choked silently as he slowly suffocated in the tension that engulfed his body, getting up and running as quick as he could without looking back. He didn't stop till he reached the park once again. So much for going to school and improving his attendance.

The brown hair boy collapsed to his knees and whimpered loudly. He had hurt Matt, he had hurt Josh, he had proved them all right. They were all right, Oli was dangerous like his dad. He deserved to be locked up just like his father. His mind ran 1000 miles an hour as he curled up into a ball within the tall grass of the park. He couldn't breath, he couldn't move, his vision was fading fast.

Everything went black.

When Oli woke up he was on an uncomfortable bed in s bright room. His eyelids felt like they were being held down with bricks and his limbs felt like rocks being dragged to the bottom of the ocean. Groggily, he looked around through half lidded eyes. He was in some kind of hospital room. How did he get here?

His arms were covered in needles that were piercing his pale skin. So pale it was almost transparent. He closed his eyes again with a groan. The door opened and close, well Oli assumed it did, he couldn't really tell what was real and what was in his head.

"Mr Sykes this is Doctor Smith. Can you open your eyes for me?" Oliver opened his eyes, instantly shutting them again from the blinding light that made his head throb.

"You have some visitors that want to see you. Should I let them in?"

Oliver nodded silently, unsure if he could speak a full sentence without stuttering right now. The doctor left the room promptly, leaving the room in deathly silence before he heard the door opened again and 2 pairs of footsteps coming towards him.

"Oli I was so scared when you didn't come home!" A squeaky voice exclaimed as they held onto Oli's cold hand. He quickly recognised his little brothers voice and opened his eyes slightly to look at the crying boy. Tom looked up at someone that who Oli couldn't see due to his eyes still being mostly shut. "Is he okay Josh? He isn't moving."

"He's going to be fine Tommy, he's just drowsy right now." Oli defiantly recognised that voice. Both of the boys silently stared at Oli, waiting for him to do something until Oli broke the silence, unable to take the attention any longer.

"W-what happened?" He stuttered in a tired voice.

"You fainted in the park after you hit Matt, you were knocked out cold for 2 days before someone found you and then you were sent to hospital. They said you were half dead from lack of water, food and oxygen." Josh started, crouching down so that a Oli could actually see him. "Tom called me from your phone this morning saying you hadn't been home for 3 days so I called the hospital and they told me you were here."

Oli closed his eyes as he let the tears run freely down his face. How could he leave Tom by himself for 3 days? He was such a shit brother.

"I'm so sorry Tom. I would have never left you alone on purpose, I can't image how scary that was." Oli whispered as he chocked in his tears.

"It's okay Oli, Joshy helped me out."

"Josh, I didn't mean to beat up Matt, he's been making me feel like shit for months and then he got all your friends to start calling me names, I couldn't take it anymore." Oli whispered as he looked into Josh's eyes the best he could.

"It's alright. Patty already told me what happened. He said that Matt had this big plan to make you hurt him so that we could break up." Frowned Josh as he ran his hand through Oliver's messy hair.

"I'm sorry I got you into this mess Josh."

"Oli you could honestly drag me through hell and I wouldn't complain, this is nothing." Smiled Josh as he leaned forward and quickly pressed his lips against Oliver's.

"So when can I get out of here?"

"Tomorrow. Then I'm going to take you on a real date, yeah? Your mum has already agreed to stay in with Tommy so you can sleep over at mine." Josh smiled happily.

"It's a date." Smiled Oli in return.
