Josh's pov

Josh woke up on Saturday morning at 8am, which might seem weird to some as Saturdays are meant for lying in but Josh loved the fresh feeling of cold morning air and the feeling of making the most of his day. Even if most of his Saturdays consisted of playing video games and ordering pizza with his friends.

Josh got ready for the day and then went downstairs. He knew that Elissa would already awake as well as his mother and father. Josh's mum helped at the church service on Saturdays, so the family always ate breakfast together early in the morning so that she wouldn't miss out on the family tradition.

Josh made his toast, sitting down opposite Elissa and next to his mum. They ate slowly together as they made friendly conversation, catching up on all the news from the week and talking about all the normal family stuff. Elissa always talked about her friends, she was popular like Josh and was always getting invited to parties, even though she was only in year 7. She looked a lot like Josh too, brown hair and blue eyes, although she dressed up in all the latest brands unlike her older brother.

Josh and Elissa were the only ones left at the table, finishing off their meals in silence. That was until Elissa decided to speak, drawing Josh's attention away from his jam smothered toast.

"Jenny said that she saw you walking home with Syko last week. Is this true?" Questioned Elissa whilst looking at Joshua, her eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.

"Syko? Do you mean Oliver Sykes?" Asked Josh back , remembering how Matt had used that nickname to describe Oliver in French.

"Yep, the guy who looks like he's about to kill anyone who talks to him, which he probably could considering the fact that he's from that family." Said Elissa.

Josh frowned, thinking back to how his conception of Oliver was so much different to everyone else's. He didn't believe any of the rumours and liked to believe that Oliver was a nice guy behind his cold facade. Maybe the only reason Josh though of Oliver like this was because he found Oli attractive, and thinking of Oli as friendly justified that small, irrational crush he had for the older boy. Josh wasn't sure if it was a crush yet, it may be just a passing interest or him shamefully lusting for someone who he knew he had little chance with.

Josh frowned and left the table, not wanting to have a debate with Elissa about Oli. Josh didn't want his sister telling anyone that her brother was interested in Oliver because then Oli could find out that Josh had a small thing for him and never talk to him again. Not like they talked much to begin with. Josh had tried to talk to Oli everyday since they had walked home together, and not once out of those 5 school days did Oliver try and keep the conversation two sided.

Josh sighed, he had offered to do a cheap overnight babysitting job tonight as he needed some extra money to buy Jordan Fish a present for his upcoming birthday. Although the job payed rather poorly, it was all he needed to complete his savings. He didn't know much about the job, only that he was babysitting a 7 year old boy named Tom overnight and that the house was somewhere on the north side.

Josh went back to his room and completed his homework for the upcoming school week, he then turned on his TV and played on computer games until it was time to leave.

Josh arrived at the address that the mother of the boy he was babysitting had given him. It was a small house, that he had expected from the low paying wage he had accepted for the job, and was nestled in between a row of identical looking houses on a long road. The street was poorly lite, and some of the other houses on the street were rundown with missing windows or doors. Josh, in his good nature, decided not to judge the family who hired him by the area they lived in.

After Josh knocked on the door, a short, skinny women opened the door. She was wearing a casual dress, had curly brown hair and pale blue eyes. She looked almost sick by how skinny she was, cheekbones sticking out and sunken eyes.

Josh smiled warmly as she invited him in, making conversation about all the things he was required to do in her overnight absence. She told him that he would have to sleep in her sons bed for the night, something she had already informed her son of. She left in a hurry as a taxi pulled up outside the home, leaving Josh with all her details and emergency numbers to call in case anything went wrong.

Josh entered the living room that was joined to the kitchen. It was a small house, the bottom floor only being a small landing attaching onto an open plan kitchen and living room. The walls were beige and the couch was well worn but the place felt homely and cosy, something Josh's house lacked.

Down the stairs skipped a boy, under half of Josh's height and missing his front teeth. This must be Tom. He had short brown, curly hair and blue eyes to match his mother's along with matching pale skin. Josh smiled, remembering a time when he was as young and excited as Tom.

"Hey I'm Josh." Introduced Josh, not sure if his mum had previously told Tom about his personal information.

"I'm Tom," he replied "my brother should be coming home soon so you can take care of me together, he usually doesn't come in until almost my bedtime on weekends tho."

Josh smiled. Him and Tom preceded to play board games, eat left over pizza and watch films for the rest of the day until the sun was long gone from the sky. Their quite evening, however, was suddenly interrupted by the slamming of the door and footsteps entering the living room.
