"Sammy!" I screech. "Stop splashing me!"
"You're already wet, what does it matter?" He kept splashing and splashing me.
"Because I don't want that nasty water in my mouth." I try to splash back, but it doesn't affect him. "Please, stop." I turn away from him and begin to swim away. I get to where you aren't supposed to swim any further and stop. I can still feel Sammy's splashing, but I face him anyway, covering my face of course. I start walking towards him, and literally jump into his arms as I feel something bite me. "Holy fucking shit!" I scream and hide my face in his shoulder. He has one arm wrapped around my back and the other supporting one of my legs.
"Fuck, Cheyenne, there's children here."
"Sorry, I'm sorry."
"What happened?" He tries to put me down, but I won't allow it. "Cheyenne."
"A fish bit me."
"Wha- Did you just-" He can't even form a proper sentence as he starts to laugh.
"Don't," I whine. He quiets down and apologizes.
"Well, then let's just move closer to shore. There are only minnows that way." He carries me up a little ways until we get about half way between the shore and the pole. "Can I let you down now?" I nod and feel me feet drop to the bottom.
"Can we like, go play in the sand or something?"
"What are you, five?"
"Nope, fifteen." I run through the water, up to the shore. I sit down in the shade, where the bag and our shoes are. I start to dig with my hands, the grains of sands getting under my nails. Sammy sits down beside me and watches. The hole isn't getting any bigger, and I don't know why.
"Why don't you go get a shovel from those kids over there?" He points to two little girls playing with beach toys.
"I'm not just gonna go get one. You do it." He rolls his eyes.
"You make everything so complicated," he says while standing up and brushing himself off. I smile sheepishly at him as he walks away. He taps on the woman's shoulder, who I'm guessing is the mother, and obviously asks for a shovel.
"Kaitlyn, can you give one of you shovels to Sam here?" One of the little girls shakes her head. "Kaitlyn," her mother says sternly. She starts to pout so the mother takes a small shovel from the girl and hands it to Sam. He thanks her and makes his way back to me, holding out the shovel.
"Thanks." I grab the shovel from his hand and begin to dig. "This works way better than my hands."
"Told you."
"Fuck off."
"Don't curse."
"Leave me alone." We're both silent after that. I keep digging and digging, not knowing when I want to stop. I make the hole wider and then deeper. I throw the shovel down and stand up. I wipe off my hands and legs the best I can before heading towards the water. I don't go too deep, just enough to wash off the sand.
After it's all gone, I walk back to our spot, where Sammy is still sitting in the sand. I unzip the bag and pull out my clothes. When I get to the cubicle we changed in, I step inside. I change out of the bathing suit and into my clothes. I step out and the first thing I see is that guy; the one who saw my boobs. He has a little blood coming from his nose.
"Um.. I.."
"I'm sorry for looking at your boobs. It wasn't right, and I understand that now. Again, I'm very sorry, and I've learned my lesson." I watch him, in shock, walk away towards the parking lot. I head down to the beach, trying to find an explanation in my head for the words "I've learned my lesson.".
Sam's not at our spot, but the bag still is. I pick it up, along with our shoes, and head to the truck. He's not there either so I just put down the tailgate and sit. I find my phone in the bag and decide to text Marisol because I haven't talked to her in so long. (Marisol in bold, Cheyenne in italics.)
hey babe :)

I LOVE YOUUUU
"Who are you texting?" I jump at Sam's unexpected voice.
"Marisol, but she had to go." I place my phone beside me and look at him.
"Who's Marisol?"
"My friend," I answer, uneasily. He's staring at me, and it's scary.
"Ya know, you make me feel like I've done something wrong when I haven't." His voice is hard, and I know he's mad.
"What do you mean?" I swallow.
"You ignore me, or you tell me to leave you alone. That makes me feel like you hate me, that I've hurt your feelings. I think about everything I've done, and I know I didn't do anything to you, yet I feel like I should apologize."
"I-"
"I shouldn't have to apologize though, you should." He's now standing directly in front of me. "You should apologize for making me feel bad, even though nothing I've done is wrong."
"I'm sorry."
"That's not good enough."
"Then what do you want me to say?"
"Nothing." He leans in, with his hand on the back of my neck, and kisses me. I know it's wrong to kiss him back, but I honestly don't care right now. That tells you what a bad girlfriend I am.
