Run Away, But I Won't Follow [Soma Fanfic Soul X Maka]

Chapter Twelve

Maka's POV -

I sit in class, again. I sigh, and continues writing down the notes furiously. I get a few peeks from people sitting next to me, but I ignore them.  As Sid finishes the notes he told us to write down, I hear my 'name' called out from the role.

"Aika."

I look up swiftly from my notes.

"I would like you to come down here, please."

I stand up from my seat, making certain my hood has covered my face secrurely before running over to Sid.

"Class, we are now going to focus on physical techniques using the notes you have already copied down. I thought we would use the new kid for this lesson."

Sid smirks. I smirk back. Whoever I'm going to verse has no idea what's coming for them.

"Evans!"

Sid calls, gesturing to the albino who seems to just be chilling. Soul looks up at the sound of his name. Soul sighs and gets up from his seat. Sid stands us both next to eachother, but I make sure my face is hidden.

"You two are going to fight. I want you to use techniques taken from the notes and training I've given you so far, and try to beat eachother. Aika, do you want a weapon?"

I shake my head no. Sid look's startled, so I say,

"Hybrid."

Sid just nods and steps back, telling us to fight.

"Class, I want you to analyze every movement between Soul and Aika. I want you to find out why the winner won and the loser lost."

And with that, the match has begun.

I crouch low, making sure to get a good angle on Soul. Soul stands opposite me, teeth bared. Bring it, Soul. 

Soul's POV - 

I stare intently at the figure infront of me. What to do? Aika is crouched infront of me, hood masking her face. Her long, sandy blond hair is resting on her shoulders, and she has a poker face on. She's not smiling.  To be honest, she looks pretty badass. I run at her first, my right hand turning into a blade, and jump her. Well, at least try to. Aika jumps away fast, and lands behind me. Before I can turn around, she attacks me from behind. Before I realize it, I'm on the floor, and my shoulder is aching, although it's not that bad. I swiftly turn around, and catch her foot with a swipe kick, bringing her crashing to the ground. I get on top of her, so that she can't escape. But, she's already ahead of me, and I can feel a blade a few inches from my chest. When I look down, I notice that a blade has protruded from her, so it almost touches my heart-area. I jump back forcefully, trying to avoid impact with her scythe blade. I realize that I underestimated her, and that if I'm going to win this, I have to focus on technique. I can tell that she's already using the techniques recorded down, but she's got a lot more agile technique than this. She runs at me, scythe blade extending out from her arm, and tries to hit my throat, but I dodge at the last second. That was close.

Maka's POV -

Damnit! Soul, you baka! I almost had him... I think to myself, blocking a blow with both of my blades. I spring back, flipping as I do, to avoid any serious injury. Time to end this. Soul comes at me, and I charge too. As soon as I'm close enough, I drop to the floor, so I'm kneeling and slide under his legs, bringing my blade up as I do. I stop just behind him, and I can feel my blade against his stomach.

"Move, and you die."

Although my blade is blunt, I can easily make it un-blunt. Soul doesn't budge, and I can tell that I have suceeded. I'm surprised my hood didn't come off while fighting, but I'm not complaining. I smile. I have just won against Soul. Sid tells us to stop. Soul moves, but not before I nick his stomach. Once he's safely away from my blade, I stand up and put my blades away. I go to stand next to Sid again, along with Soul.

"Congratulations, Aika. Tell me, I'm pretty sure the techniques you used weren't in the notes. Where are they from?"

I sigh. More questioning. I start to speak after a moment of thought.

"I learn't them training by myself and a Two-Star level weapon. After that though, I went solo." I say. Soul doesn't seem amused, but all I do is smile and walk back to my seat.
