♚CHASE♚

"C'mon boy, you're taking too long,"

I grunted and hauled my duffel through the front door of the cabin. A man awaited in a green golf cart with the Camp Cresent insignia painted on the side.

"Ride on the back," he said.

I hopped on the back of the cart and choked on the rising dust as he sped away from Cabin 16.
While on this ride, Ash came to mind. Man, was Ash something. To be absolutely honest, she came to my mind every time I wasn't with her. When we hiked together, her laugh made my heart flutter like dove's wings. When we played the trick on James, her hair caught the lunar rays so perfectly, she looked like a goddess. When she kissed that kid, my heart dropped into my stomach. I honestly don't know what to make of her, but of all of the emotions I've ever experienced, Ash made me feel something that I'd never thought I'd be capable of.

Love.

My mind wandered elsewhere as the golf cart sped over tree roots and rocks sticking out of the soil. We had just turned onto a trail that led to the disciplinary cabins. I jumped off the cart and as soon as I did, the burly man sped away, leaving me coughing up dust.

The dirt settled and revealed a cabin with green moss forming on the roof. The cabin itself was a decent size, and the towering redwoods surrounding it made it look miniscule. I stepped onto the porch and let myself in.

The screen door made a creaking noise as it shut behind me. The first thing I saw was a black leather couch with some holes here and there. The kitchen had the necessities; a mini-fridge with water bottles and fruit only, a counter, a microwave, and two cabinets with canned soups and such. I made my way across the room to the oak wood stairs and climbed to the top.

There was a matress with sheets near the triangular window. The ceiling of the second floor was at the house's peak, so when I walked to the window, I hit my head on the beams. I rubbed my skull and cussed under my breath.

Opposite the matress, there was the smallest full bath I've ever seen. A shower only fit for one was next to a toilet where I could literally sit and crap while washing my hands in the pedestal sink. Everything was so outdated, it made the inner interior designer in me cringe.

I huffed and put my black duffel aside the bed. Taking a deep sigh. I let my body collaspe down on the mattress.

I lay for awhile, letting my eyes wander the unique wood designs in the ceiling. It started to rain outside and the pitter-patter sounds of the tiny droplets soothed my mind. I concentrated on th esound that each rain drop made whenever one landed on the roof.

The rain hardended a few minutes later, and with the first roll of thunder, I heard the slam of the wooden door downstairs. Someone is in the house with me now.

"Chase?" I heard a feminine voice call.

"Who is that?" I call back.

I heard footsteps make their way up the stairs. Ash appeared at the doorway. Her hair was dripping with rain water, and as were her clothes. Goosebumps ran up and down her arms and I could see from even on the mattress that she was shivering.

"Ash? Why are you here?" I stood up from the mattress and noticed her red eyes and puffy cheeks. Her lips were blue. "What's wrong?" I asked in a softer tone.

"I-I guess I just wanted someone to talk to..." she hiccupped. A new emotion crossed her features and she turned away. "You know, I shouldn't have come. I d-didn't mean to b-bother you..."

Ash tried to walk away, but I grabbed ahold of her arm.

"No, don't leave." Man, that sounded desperate. I cleared my throat. "I-I mean, it's alright. You look freezing, and you really shouldn't go out there again."

"Alright," Ash mumbled. I took her hand and led her downstairs.

I filled a mug with hot water from the sink and stuck it into the microwave with a green tea bag. I wrapped a towel and a warm blanket around Ash's shoulders as she sat down at the small dining table near the kitchenette.

The microwave tiner beeped and I removed the steaming mug and placed it in Ash's shivering hands. As she too a sip, a little bit of blue disappeared from her lips.

"So, why did you come here?" I asked in a soft tone.

Ash too another sip of tea and swallowed. "Jer and Nate were being asses." She says in her normal, sarcastic tone.

When I asked her to explain, she went into her lengthy story of how they were at the beach, and she introduced herself to some playboy as 'Ashlynn' and when the dude left Jer and Nate got pushy and stirred up some old memories that shuld've stayed at rest.

"But then again," Ash adds. "I was probably overreacting. They were just concerned about my odd behavior, I guess."

I took a seat next to her and tighteed the fabrics around her shoulder. "No, they were being dicks. Nothing wrong on your part."

"But I still feel bad, you know? I made them feel guilty and I ran here and they don't know so they're probably worried about me." She took the last gulps from her mug and set it on the wooden picnic table. Ash looked up at me, and I looked down at her. After of few seconds locked in her gaze, I started to subconciously lean towards her face.

"Maybe....you should..tell them....that..." I could feel myself radiating towards her like she was a magnet.

It seemed to go in slow motion. I started moving in towards her, and she realized what was happening. But Ash didn't stop me. In fact, she leaned in too.

And our lips met.
