~Madison's POV~

It was just another normal day of school, everything the same as the previous.

Or so I though, that is.

I was walking down the halls, and going to my locker.

Carson was there putting his stuff up, as usual. I unlocked my locker and put my bag in it.

When I closed it, Carson turned to me.

"What?" I questioned.

We were able to talk to each other normally now, even though it took time.

I still have that burning feeling of guilt every time I see him, though. I can always see the hurt in his eyes when I pass by.

It eats me alive every single day.

I still think about what Carson said that day. I feel like I'm getting really close to the right time.

It feels so close, yet so far. I was falling more and more in love with him every second that we talk passes by.

I don't know what's wrong with me, I don't even know why I broke up with him in the first place. I think about it every day.

"Nothing," He smiled.

"Mmhmm.." I smiled back.

"Meet me at the tree?" He asks.

The tree was where I ran off to on the first day of school. He always asks to meet him there when he has something to tell me.

"Okay," I shrug.

"Alright," He says, smiling again and going over to his friends.

Carson has actually become quite popular, along with Johnny and Hayden.

I walked over to Kenzie's locker. She was talking to Annie.

"Hey guys," I say as I walk up, catching their attention.

Kenzie's back was facing me, and Annie looked at me with her mouth opened a bit and her eyes widened.

Kenzie turned around and did the same. I just looked at then confusingly.

"Uhh- we, uhm-" Kenzie stuttered.

I looked at her suspiciously. Why were they acting so weird today?

"Gotta.. uhm- go," Annie continued.

"Uh- yeah," Kenzie said, seeming nervous.

"Uh.. okay?" I said, but it sounding more like a question.

"Yeah- uh bye.." Annie says, also nervous.

"Hehe," Kenzie awkwardly laughed, then they both ran off.

"Weirdo's," I said, turning around with my eyebrows furrowed.

Then, I spotted Lauren, closing her locker. I went up to her.

"Hey," I casually greeted.

"Uhh.." her eyes also widened. "Gotta go.." She said quick, running off in the direction Kenzie and Annie ran off into.

"Wha-" I asked confused, and throwing my hands in the air.

"Ughh," I groaned and put them back down.

The bell rang, and I went into homeroom.

Kenzie wasn't there, so I just sat in the middle of the room by myself.

Not even Carson showed up. That's really weird.

I looked around, and spotted Hayden.

Our teacher has gotten so strict, and she gave detention for everything.

If she doesn't approve, you get detention. I guess that's just life now..

I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote a note.

It read wheres carson?

I balled it up, and threw it to the front of the classroom, where Hayden sat.

Unfortunately, that's where the teacher was, and it hit her instead of Hayden.

I rolled my eyes and groaned, this not being the first time I've done this.

The teacher turned around and said furiously, "DETENTION, MISS SUMMERS!"

I mocked her, just to give the class a laugh.

She looked at me and said, "Oh, so you wanna be a class clown now?"

"Nobody even said that," I looked around, fake confused.

"Well, guess what," She said, still very angry.

"What," I say, impatient. She takes forever to get to the point.

"You're going to the principals office, and you tell him how you throw stuff in MY classroom and backtalk!" She shouted at me.

"Okay, jeez," I made a face at her, and fanned around my nose. "Just brush your teeth first,"

I got up and walked towards the door, the class laughing and giggling.

"NO YOU COME BACK HERE!" She yells.

I roll my eyes and heavily sigh while turning back around. "What now?"

She wrote something on a sticky note, and stuck it on my forehead.

"NOW GO," She shouted.

"OKAY, I'm going!" I said.

I walked out, feeling kind of proud of my accomplishments today.

Which were the following of:
- Getting out of class
-Reputation
-Amusement

I walked outside to the tree, since class was over in like a minute.

The bell rang, and kids were piling out of classrooms. Carson headed towards me.

"How are you here so fast?" He asks, sitting down next to me.

"Got sent to the office, but came out here instead," I informed him.

"You've changed," He says.

I look at him. What does he mean?

"How? I'm still.. me," I say, looking at myself.

"A different version of yourself. You used to never get in trouble," He says.

"Oh," I say quietly, not knowing if that was good or bad.

"You've got a note on your head," He said.

I let out a soft laugh and said, "I know, the teacher gave it to me,"

I took it off of my head and read it. It said that I was apparently 'backtalking and throwing things in class'

"Pshh, lies," I say, crumbling it up and throwing it somewhere.

He just looks at me. "What?" I ask.

"Is there something on my face? I'm pretty sure I-" I started.

Carson interrupted me by..
