In a world where shifters are kept as pets by humans. Some being cared and loved, some being abused by their owners, and a few are used for profit for their pups and kits. Callum was recently abused, and was sold to many people before ending up in t...
I'm laying in the kennel, with a small blanket underneath me for comfort. I let out a huff as I look at the cast on my hind leg, caused by my previous owners. My previous owners were the most horrible people I've seen, since forever really. They're all I've really known since I was sold to them from my mother. I wish I could go back and find her, but I don't know where she could be; if, she is still alive.
I hear footsteps coming my way and I lift my head off the floor of the kennel. The pair of shoes stop at my kennel, unlock it, and help me out of my confinement. I whine slightly out of fear of what's going to happen. "Don't be scared. We're just going to change your cast, and you'll be good to relax again." The woman scratches my head for reassurance, and it works for the most part.
We head through a doorway to the medical room, and she sets me down on the metal table, in the center. "Okay, so let's check on your leg, and maybe we can take it off today. How's that sound?" I bark at her happily with my tail wagging wildly. She giggles and grabs something to cut the cast. She cuts the cast off, and helps me stand up slowly.
I slowly put more weight on my leg, and brace myself for a major amount of pain. I soon realize that I fully standing on all four of my legs. No pain, just the normality of me standing on the table. I hop onto my hind legs, so I can lick the woman's face in happiness. She's giggling a lot, "Okay! Okay! You- can get off!" I hop off the table and run around, on my now healed leg.
I hear the click of a door open. I quickly turn around, and see the back door open, which leads to the gated yard area. I run outside to enjoy the grass, the warmth, the wind, and the water. After an hour of so enjoying my freedom, the woman brings me back inside of the building. I notice a large number of people in the building, other than the staff and volunteers.
I start to shake, and back into the corner near the door. I curl around myself, and whimper quietly at all the people. The woman tries to calm me down, but it isn't working whatsoever. I hear quiet footsteps coming in my direction. I slowly uncurl myself to see a little girl, that looks to be six, and tears flowing down her cheeks. My Omega instincts take over, and I walk over to the girl. I lick her cheeks, licking the tears away, and making her giggle.
I hear someone aw, and I instantly get defensive of the girl. I growl at a man and another girl, who looks to be 12 or so. "Papa!" The little girl behind me runs to the pair. I react with by sitting down, ears lowered, and have a sad look. I'm surprised by a kiss to the top of my head. I look up and see the little girl, smiling at me. "Papa, can we get this one?" I shift as to show them I am a shifter, and not a normal Border Collie.
"Okay, I'm on board with this. I want to keep him." My tail wags, I tilt my head, and I smile at them. I hear the girls aw, and the man kneels down in front of me. "What's your name?" His voice is very deep, hearty, and full of charisma. Which is different than my past owner's, who's voice was full of deceit, stubbornness, and greed.
"My name's Callum. I'm 20 and an Omega." He nods, and looks towards the woman behind me. "I think we'll take him." "Okay. How about you and I fill out the paperwork, and Callum stays with these two." They both walk off to the front desk area, and the young girl messes with my ears. After about ten minutes, I'm back to my normal shift, and we are driving in a car.

^Pick of Callum's new home above^
I learned that the youngest is Bonnie, the oldest is Olivia, the dad is Christian, their Mom is Melissa, and their other shifter is Issac. We arrive at a two story house, with a lot of space in between it and the neighbors' houses. Olivia opens the door, and I immediately jump out and bolt for the front door. I was never a fan for cars, as they give too many bad memories.
I sit down at the front door, alternating between my two front paws, waiting for someone to open the door. Yes, I can shift into my human form, but I can't just barge into my new owners' home. I paw at the door slightly, "Callum you're very excited to be at your new home." Olivia chuckles as she opens the door.
I run inside to explore the house, so I can get used to my new home and the new scents. I head off to the living room, which has a large window facing the road, then head upstairs to look at the other rooms. There is the master which is painted a grayish-blue with a large light gray bed in the middle. I run to the other two rooms, one is painted pick with a red bed, and the other is painted light green with a cyan bed.
'Example' = Speech between Shifters (Animal Form)
I head back downstairs and see Christian in the kitchen. He is talking to a woman, who I assume is his wife Melissa. I walk over to them, sit, and give a happy bark to them. Melissa gasps, "I didn't think they'd have a Border Collie! He's so cute!" She cups both hands under my jaw, and gives my head a cheery shake.
I lick her cheek happily, 'Surprised they got a dog shifter.' I look around for the owner of the voice, 'Look up, dork.' I follow their directions to see a gray tabby cat on top of the cabinets. 'Hi, Issac. Didn't know you were a cat shifter, thought maybe a dog shifter.' He jumps down onto the counter, then the floor in front of me.
He stalks around me, 'Why is that? Don't like an Alpha as a cat?' I can hear some seduction in his voice, but it is most likely a facade. Dog and Cat shifters are only attracted to their own kind. I lay down on the floor, head on the ground, 'Most people usually want me for pups. I trust too easily, but I can't help that.'
I head over to the living room to relax, and ignore my sadness from past events. I feel Issac leaning on me, and he begins to purr. I lick the top of his head comfortingly, and continue to relax. I hope this will be better than before. Please, let this perfection not be a dream.
