Nikolai's POV
I found out that Callum was in heat, and it's pissing me off that there is another alpha with my omega! If he even looks at him with curiosity, I'm going to kill him because Callum is mine! I'm growling slightly at the thought of my omega being taken from me. Someone scratches my ears, and I look up to Merida trying to calm me down from her desk. I would've tried to go to Callum, but I had to work with Merida today at the station.
I hear someone whistle, and realize that Merida is whistling for me to head out on patrol with her. We get in the squad car, and head towards the downtown area. We've been on patrol for around an hour and a half, but nothing too interesting happened. Stopped and ticketed a few speeders, and warned others about a problem with tail lights of the sort.
While driving back to the station, we witness a head-on collision at the intersection in front of us. I jump out the car's window and run over to the wreckage. Both cars had multiple air bags set off, and the front of one car was completely pushed in on itself. I shift to try and get the door open of the most damaged car, but it's no use as the front doors are jammed.
I get the back doors open, and head inside to check on the driver. I check his pulse, and sigh in relief that the man isn't dead. I climb to the front to see that the man is locked in due to the wheel being pushed out of position.
I get the front door open with the help of passerby, and we carefully move the man out from the driver seat. It takes about 45 minutes for the paramedics to arrive at the scene, and take all injured to the hospital. A few have stayed to check on the police involved, and any passerby hit by stray shrapnel. I lay with curled, as she is checked for any minor injuries from helping the other driver.
"You need to shift." I look up at the paramedic with my head tilted. "You need to shift, so I can check for injuries." I growl slightly, but receive a slap to my muzzle from Merida. I reluctantly shift, and she checks quickly looks me over. I growled at her when she checked my ears and tail; however, she continued when I was hit in the head by Merida. I just grumbled the rest of the time as she was looking at me.
The department sent both of us off of patrol, and back home for some reason. I don't really remember as I didn't care to listen, as I just want to see Callum right now. I look at the car window watching downtown change into the suburbs. We just pass by Callum, and I whine and scratch at the window to go see him. "Nikolai, you're not going to see Callum when he's in heat. Neither us nor the Thompsons want to deal with puppies right now, so you are not getting near him."
I jump to the backseat, and see the house disappear as we round the corner. I whimper slightly for not being able get to my omega. I hear Merida giggle slightly as the house comes into view. "Don't worry about him. You'll get to see him once his heat has passed." I growl slightly at the thought of Ray helping Callum with his heat instead of me.
Callum's POV
I'm laying by the backdoor looking at Ray stuck outside because of my heat. I'd rather prefer Nikolai with me, but I just want this heat over with at this point. Being surrounded by the scent of two alphas, even though one is a cat shifter, is driving me insane. I whimper slightly as Ray claws at the glass door separating us.
"Callum. Ray isn't coming inside, and it doesn't matter how much either of you whine." I look up at Christian, and see a scowl upon his face. He picks me up off the floor, and takes me to the living room to keep me away from Ray. Bonnie gentle scratches behind my ear to calm me down some, but it only helps so much.
I hear the glass door open, and I perk my head up towards the direction of the sound. Christian is holding Ray, while Ray is struggling to get out of his grip. "Bonnie, can you take Callum outside. We don't want him cooped up in the house all day." Bonnie nods at him, pushes me off the couch, and towards the backdoor.
I enjoy the sunlight, and the smell of the grass by running around the yard. It's quite refreshing compared to being indoors most of the day. After running, I relax under the tree to cool off from heat of the sun. I catch the scent of an alpha nearby, and let out an whine. 'Hello ,Callum. you smell very delectable right now.'
I recognize the voice as Nikolai's, and then a bang is sounded against the fence. 'W-what are you d-doing?' Another bang made against the fence, 'I'm trying to get in to be with you. What does it look like?' I see part of the fence bend, and he tries to squeeze through the small opening. He growls as he can't fit through it, and continues to try and make it bigger.
'You shouldn't be here!' I hear him chuckle slightly, and he is able to get through the gap he's made. He quickly comes over to me, and licks my muzzle affectionately. I growls lowly making me whimper, and makes his way behind me. 'I think I should help you with your problem.' "Nikolai!"
I lay on the ground with my ears flatten, and Nikolai stands over me growling at Christian. Christian slowly creeps closer to us, and Nikolai's growling becomes deeper and louder. He tries to grab Nikolai, but Nikolai snaps at his hands. I begin to shake sporadically because of the ferocious pheromones Nikolai is letting off, and the furious look in my owner's eyes.
Nikolai seems to notice, and nuzzles against me to try and calm me down. Christian uses the opportunity to grab hold of Nikolai, and quickly pressing Nikolai's head against his chest to stop him from trying to bite his arm. I get up and stand on my hind legs, leaning against my owner. I whimper towards my owner to put the alpha down. "Quiet, Callum. This guy here is going back to his owners, and away from you."
I try to follow as they head inside, but the door is quickly shut on my before I can get in. I whine and claw at the glass door. Only to see Nikolai trying his hardest to get out of my owner's grip, but to no avail. The front door closes, they both disappear, and I hear the car speed off into the distance.
A/N: Sorry for such a late update! I've been busy with work, school, and writer's block for a long while. My birthday is also in two days, so I'm excited for it! I do hope you all enjoyed, and do check out my other books as well!
