Callum's POV
Next Morning
I snuggle up closer to Olivia, as my internal clock says it's morning. I'd prefer to just sleep in for a couple more minutes. I hear the door knob turn, it creaks open slightly, and I growl lowly at the intruder. However, I get a slight smack to the head by a sleeping Olivia. I whimper at the aggression, but I also shouldn't really be growling.
"Callum, let's go for a walk before everyone has to leave." I jump down from the bed, and shake out my fur to wake myself up. I walk with Christian downstairs, he puts a leash on me, and we head out of the house. We're about a block from the house, when I get the scent of another dog shifter. It smells like an alpha, and it is very intoxicating.
I try to run ahead and find the source, but the leash is holding me back. "Callum! You need to stop! Shift, so you can tell me what's going on!" I follow his directions, and shift, now sitting on the ground. "Okay, so what's going on?" My ears droop, as I can sense a bit of anger in his voice. "There was just this...uh...intoxicating alpha scent. I just felt the need to find the source."
He groans, and takes a look at his watch. "We need to head back. I've got to take the girls to school, and head to work myself." I whine at the thought of being without my owners. As a dog shifter, I'm fond of spending time with my owners, but with other dog shifters is another story. I go ahead and shift back, and we walk back to the house.
I'm in the backyard, relaxing in the shade of a tree. Issac and I are the only ones home right now, and everyone else is out of the house. I catch the intoxicating alpha scent again, and perk my head up to look around. I see Issac relaxing on the window sill, but he isn't the source of the scent. I want to go and search for the source, but I'd rather not be scolded by everyone. Argh! Why is the scent so alluring!?
I hear something claw at the fence. I growl lowly at the intruder, trying to intimidate them from the house. I hear them growl back at me. I go to return the growl, but am tackled to the floor. I look up to see a Doberman above me. He growls in my face, 'I don't think an Omega should be growling at any Alpha.' I get out from underneath him, and shift to my human form.
"Get the fuck away from my home! Go back to your owners instead of being here!" I hear another growl from the other side of the fence, as the doberman shifts to his human form. I growl at the alpha, as he creeps closer to me. He points towards his neck, "As you can see, I don't have any owners. I'm a stray."
I see his demeanor change, so I sit across from him to comfort him slightly. "Why don't you go to a shelter to find an owner?" I see his ears droop and his tail stills, "Cause no one really cares for an Alpha Doberman. Humans think that I'm too aggressive, and don't want me around their kids." Alphas normally don't get very emotional, but all shifters do when they don't receive any actual love from an owner.
I sit next to him and lean my head into his shoulder. "Do you think your owner's could adopt me?" I tense up slightly at his question. I sit up and look at him, "I don't know... Possibly, but... they might worry about me having pups when my heat rolls around. "I hear him chuckle a bit, "I mean pups aren't that bad. I wouldn't mind having some of my own." He smirks in my direction. I sigh, and get up from the ground.
A Couple Hours Later
We've been roughhousing to pass the time until my owners came back. I hear a car door close, and I look over to Ray, the Doberman. The sliding glass door opens, revealing Olivia and a guy standing next to her. I growl towards the stranger, and creep towards them. Olivia steps in front of him, "Callum, stop! He's just a friend that's staying for dinner." I stop growling, but continue walking towards them.
Olivia lets me past, and I sniff her friend, getting to know his scent. I pick up some of the intoxicating scent from earlier, but he isn't the source. "So, Callum. Who's your Doberman friend?" I shift quickly, "He came in the yard when I was distracted..." I sit, look at the ground, waiting to be yelled at for letting an intruder in. I hear her giggle, and I see her playing with Ray.
Olivia, Tony, Ray, and I end up playing in the yard for a while. Melissa comes out to let them know dinner's ready, "Who is this, Callum?" Ray and I both shift, "This is Ray. He's a stray and was hoping that we could adopt him." She comes up to us, and scratches my ears. She looks towards Ray, "I don't know if we can actually adopt you, but you can stay with us until we find someone who will care for you."
Ray whimpers slightly, but I figured we wouldn't be able to adopt him. "I'm sorry, Ray. The house isn't very big, and we can't really risk Callum having pups with an Alpha in the house." I remember the first time I had pups. It was worth it, until they were taken from me and sold off for more cash. Then, they tried to get me pregnant again over the next couple of months. When I didn't get pregnant, they threw me aside like bad leftovers.
"Callum! You comin' in for dinner?" I look up to see Melissa and Ray's Doberman sitting in the doorway. I shift and run inside for dinner. That night I sleep downstairs with Ray, so he knows that someone is there for him. I think of my lost pups, Ray's future, my future, and that alluring scent.
