For the past three days or so you'd been feeling a little under the weather. At first, you were just a bit stuffy, but then your throat started to get sore which was always an annoyance. Thankfully, the soreness in your throat had gone away, but you were left with a horrible cough and aching muscles. A feeling of tiredness and lethargy weighed on your weary form, leaving you with no energy.

Presently, you were laid in bed, shivering but covered in a layer of sweat. With a huff, you tossed the covers off your body only to pull them back up when a layer of goosebumps rose along your clammy skin. You reached for the bottle of water sitting on the nightstand, uncapping it to take a few sips before lying back down. Your heavy-lidded eyes stared blankly at the TV, not paying attention to what was on, in a daze from whatever virus riddled your body. Being sick was one of the worst things you'd ever experienced, almost feeling detached from your body. The weight in your eyelids became too much to bear and they slowly closed as you surrendered to sleep.
Just as you began to doze off, your phone chimed, indicating a phone call. Groaning in annoyance, you forced yourself to sit up a little, grabbing the device off the nightstand. That annoyance faded away quickly when you saw the handsome face of your boyfriend displayed on the screen.

"Hi, Jin."
"Hey, princess. How are you feeling?"
Jin knew you were under the weather, but he had idol obligations and was unable to stay with you, which he complained about all morning until you forced him out the door.
"Awful." You responded, a wheezy cough accompanying the word.
"I'm sorry, sweetness." You could hear the frown in his voice. "Have you eaten?"
"No. I still don't really have an appetite."
"When I finish practice I'm gonna stop at my favorite restaurant and pick up something good, okay? They've got lots of stews and noodle soups that are good for illnesses."
"Okay." You huffed out a little chortle. "Sounds good, love."
"If we finish practice on time, I'll be seeing you in about thirty minutes."
"Take all the time you need."
"Okay. I love you."
"Love you too, Jin."
You placed your phone back on the nightstand and shimmied into a comfortable position, your face pressed into the pillow under your head. You really needed to try and sleep a little more since rest was always the best thing to do when sick, even for just thirty minutes. That drowsiness you felt before Jin called still lingered, making it easy for you to drift off to sleep.

"Y/n!"
You jolted awake at the sound of your name being called, your eyes darting around the bedroom dazedly.
"I'm home!"
Your body relaxed at the sound of Jin's voice somewhere in the apartment. A few moments later he popped into the bedroom with a warm smile.
"Hi, sweetness. How are you feeling?"
"Still crappy."
"That's not good." He frowned as he pushed your hair back. "I brought back some delicious food for you."
"I smell it. It actually smells good."
"Good. Maybe you've got a bit of an appetite. You wanna go in the kitchen?"
You nodded, sliding out of bed and grabbing a throw blanket to wrap around yourself, padding behind Jin towards the kitchen.
He pulled out the plastic bowls and containers inside the paper bag, lining them on the countertop.
"I got samgyetang for you. It's got chicken and ginseng in it, which is good for when you're feeling under the weather." He picked up a soup container, handing you the plastic-wrapped spoon that came with it. "This should help you feel better considering you haven't eaten much the past four days."
You thanked him and shuffled over to the open dining area attached to the kitchen, plopping down in a chair. Using the plastic spoon, you took a little sip of the broth, humming at the flavor and scooping up a bite with some chicken. It was nice to be eating and it definitely helped you feel better, but your entire body still felt drained. You could only hope the soup would do its job and deliver nutrients to your body to help you get some energy back.
Jin, who'd ordered food for himself, came to sit down across from you and eat his own meal.
"How's the soup?"
"Good." You nodded. "Warm."
"I'm just happy you're finally eating something other than saltine crackers." He chuckled.
"Yeah. Me too." You returned the light laughter.

After managing to finish half the bowl of soup, you popped the lid back on and put it into the fridge for later. You then shuffled to the living room and dropped down onto the couch. Jin followed behind, finished with his meal as well. He sat down beside you and as soon as he did, you fell over onto his shoulder.
"Still feeling bad?" He asked.
You nodded.
"The soup didn't help?"
"Only a little. I still feel—" You couldn't finish your sentence due to the onslaught of hacks and coughs that left you.
Jin winced at the harsh sound. "I think we need to get you to a doctor."
You groaned in response, not feeling like leaving the house.
"Come on." He stood up, causing you to fall over on the couch cushion due to his lacking presence holding you up. "Get some shoes on. Let's go."
With reluctance, you got up and went ti the bedroom, dropping the blanket wrapped around you and swapping it for a hoodie, slipping on a pair of shoes, not bothering to change your sweatpants.
Your feet dragged against the hardwood floors as you sluggishly headed to the foyer where Jin stood waiting, twirling the keys in his hand.

"Y/n, you need a mask." He pointed out after assessing your appearance.
You sighed as he went to get one, putting the straps around your ears and tugging the mask up over your mouth and nose.
"This will help you to not get any sicker and to keep others safe from whatever infection you have." He mentioned. "Come on."
He took your hand and led you out the door.

The wait in the doctor's office was about a half hour before you were called back to a room to wait some more. Much to your relief, it was only about half the time of your wait in the lobby.

"So, what seems to be the problem?" The doctor inquired after greeting the both of you.
"She hasn't been feeling well for about three days. No appetite, bad cough, no energy." Jin explained, rubbing your back.
"It started off with a stuffy nose and a sore throat." You added.
"Have you eaten anything?" The doctor questioned.
"I had some soup today."
"Mhm." The doctor nodded.
He checked your breathing, throat, heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature, scribbling on his clipboard.
"Your throat is a little pink and you definitely have some sinus drainage. No fever, which is good, your blood pressure and heart rate are normal. I'm afraid to say, though, that you do have the flu."
"The flu?" You groaned.
"Nothing a little rest and antibiotics won't help. You should eat as well. That will help out a great deal." The doctor added.
He filled out a paper, writing down the meds you'd be prescribed and handed it over before bidding you both farewell.
You left the doctor's office, stopping to pick up your prescription on the way home, thankful to have something that would help you get better soon. You were sick of being sick.

"Alright. It says to take twice a day. One in the morning and one at night." Jin instructed once you returned home, opening the medicine bottle from the pharmacy. "Here." He dropped a pill into your open palm and got you a bottle of water.
You took the medicine, lying down in bed while Jin changed into some loungewear, joining you shortly after.
"I'm sorry you have the flu." He frowned, pushing your hair away from your face.
"Thank you." You murmured as he pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
"Don't worry though. Your prince is here to take care of you."
"You're ridiculous." You giggled.
"Maybe. But I know you love it."

I had people commenting on this (the original ver) saying "omg covid" because I mentioned the reader wearing a mask to the doctor's office 😭 mind you, this was originally written in 2019.
Anyway, that little detail actually came from me having an Internet friend in Canada who would wear a mask to the doctor's office even before covid. Probably not an interesting tidbit of info but that's where the inspiration for that scene came from!
