A/N: I'm sorry, y'all. I thought I'd posted this chapter last week :( Forgive the lateness, lol.
Adam sat quietly in the back of the van. Rob would glance at him through the rearview mirror. There was just something about this kid that touched his heart. He wasn't freaking out, crying, wiggling around to free himself. The blond just sat there calmly waiting for whatever was about to happen. Despite what his friends did to survive, Rob still had a soft-spot for certain people.
The blond didn't know how long they'd been driving. It seemed like hours but it could have been just half an hour or so. He wasn't sure. Adam stared at the van wall wondering what was going to happen to him. All he wanted was to be put out of his misery. And when his family was slaughtered, that couldn't even happen to him. Suddenly, Adam felt the van slowing down and then making a left-hand turn.
Before long, the back doors flew open. The other four people stood there eyeing him up. The one who'd found him in the closet pulled him out of the van and lead him to a cabin. They were far from the city, Adam could tell, and surrounded by woods. Even if he wanted to run, he'd most likely get lost. He felt himself being shoved forward and nearly stripped on the steps. Adam squeezed his eyes shut in preparation for the harassment he was sure was coming.
Nothing did which confused him. He stumbled his way to the door and opened it up. The group quickly followed him inside, all carrying bags of his family's stuff. The tall brunette that had "kidnapped" him, could it really be called a kidnapping when he was half-way willing to go?, shoved him towards a worn-out leather couch. Adam sat down with the man sitting next to him.
To his surprise, Tim undid his bindings. Adam rubbed his wrists from where the rope irritated his skin. Tim watched out of the corner of his eye. Chance eyed the boy suspiciously figuring he'd tried to make a run for it the first chance he got. He didn't understand why his boss was giving this kid so much freedom. Especially after what they'd just done. Red was very suspicious as well. Most people would be shouting, cussing, asking questions. The blond just sat there in silence.
"We need groceries, Tim." Rob said as he looked through the empty refrigerator.
"Let me count this money and then I'll send you to the store." Tim replied.
The other three people found seats around the living room and began digging through the bags they'd brought. Adam sat there looking at these people who had murdered his family. On one hand, he knew he should feel bad. His family hadn't done anything to this group. They were loving, to one another, so did they deserve the treatment they received. On the other hand, Adam's whole life flashed before his eyes and he couldn't feel bad. He just wanted to know what his fate was going to be.
He looked around and began studying these people. The lone woman in the group. Short but fiery red hair apparently with a temper to match. Her ice blue eyes seemed very cold to him until she looked at the redheaded man with a trimmed up beard. She didn't appear to be afraid of anything. She was clearly very sarcastic going by the conversation in the room and liked mouthing off making the others smile. As she sat there, she began sharpening a set of throwing knives.
The man to her right had curly-ish, just-above-the-shoulder red hair. His blue eyes were much softer than the woman's. Each time he looked at her, a warm smile spread across his face. He didn't seem as cold as she did and the blond found that odd. He was cracking jokes like nothing had happened earlier. His voice was little higher than what he'd expect a tall man to have. Although he was thin, Adam could definitely see the muscle definition under his shirt.
The big fella driving the van had a very kind set of eyes. The bushy beard hid one of the warmest smiles Adam had ever seen. He reminded Adam of a giant teddy bear and he couldn't help but wonder if he gave good hugs. The man had a kind face and Adam wondered how he got caught up with a group like the one he was sitting with. He passed out bottles of water to everyone, including Adam, which made the blond even more curious about him.
