Chapter 26

Liam’s POV

“ Someone do something! Please!” I heard Rebecca cry. I couldn’t function. I was so overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do.

“ PLEASE! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HIM!” Rebecca cried again. Harry ran over and placed his hands on Niall’s chest. He pushed really hard, and finally we all felt Niall’s faint heartbeat start up again. 

“ Thank you Harry!” Rebecca said as she fell to Niall’s side. We all knew that Niall wasn’t going to make it, but feeling his heart beat was reassuring for the time being. I knew these were some of the last moments in Niall’s life and I wanted him to feel calm and safe. Everyone gathered around Niall as I began to sing a song written by one of our best friends.

The whole time I held Niall in my arms, hoping he was being soothed by my singing. Niall always said how much he loved this song and how he wanted someone to sing it to him while he was dying.Everyone around me was crying. Even Paul.

“ Is there anything we can do?” Courtney asked in a soft voice.

“ The best thing to do is let Niall have a have a calm and peaceful death,” said Louis as he embraced Niall’s motionless body in his arms for one last time. Eleanor put her hand on Louis shoulder as he broke down and cried with his head resting on Niall’s chest. I looked over at Rebecca. Her eyes were bright red from tears and she held Niall’s hand in hers. She was whispering what sounded like “ I love you baby,” in his ear over and over again. I sat there still holding Niall. His chest was moving up and down at an extremely low rate and I knew he was fighting to stay alive. I almost just wanted Niall to die so he would be free from whatever suffering he was experiencing. I closed my eyes and began to pray. I prayed for Niall. I prayed for a miracle that I knew was never going to happen. I prayed for Niall to have a full recovery. Just then we all heard a loud gun shot from outside. Not long after we heard the agonizing screams from the person who received the bullet.

Niall’s POV

Liam’s voice felt so soothing in the last few minutes of my life. I could faintly hear him singing Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran. Then shortly after I heard Rebecca whispering how much she loved me. It felt good to know that so many people cared about me. Suddenly I felt a commotion, but I had no idea what was going on. Everything was so muffled and I couldn’t see anything. I felt my body position change and suddenly my whole life passed before my eyes in a matter of seconds and then the light appeared before my eyes again. This time it stayed longer.

Liam’s POV

“ RUN! ALL OF YOU INSIDE THAT CAVE RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. GET OUT OF HERE AND DON’T TAKE NIALL WITH YOU. HE IS JUST GOING TO SLOW YOU DOWN,” screamed a familiar voice. It was my cousin Hailey. Everyone around me stood up and started running. I got up and held Niall in my arms. There was no way I was going to leave him there to die. I threw him over my shoulder and began to run with him. When I got outside I saw Hailey holding a gun. She had shot the nurse and no one else was around.

“ Liam go!” she screamed as I ran in the direction she pointed to. I sprinted as fast as I could while holding Niall. He became extremely heavy and I was surprised because the kid was so skinny. I began to slow down, but kept on running. Just when I could hardly move my legs any further I saw a plane. I saw Jasmine boarding it and knew that is where I had to be.
