Chapter 17

Niall’s POV

I sat there next to Jasmine who had been crying all morning. I was trying my best to stay strong, but it was hard. As the others woke up we informed them about the lawyer and how Joe was still planning on having the trial.

“ Can’t we just show them Joanna’s picture and get Liam off the hook instead of going to the trial?” asked Louis.

“ I think its worth a shot,” said Joanna as she pulled out her phone.

“ Lets go show the picture to Liam’s nurse,” I said as we all got up and started down the hallway. When we reached Liam’s room, we knocked on the door and Liam’s nurse opened it. 

“ We need to show you something,” said Harry as the nurse welcomed us in.

“ Can we talk to you in private?” I asked. 

“ Sure what is it?” asked the nurse as she closed the door.

“ Well you know how my sister was the one who claimed she saw Liam kill his father?” asked Joanna.

“ Yes,” said the nurse.

“ Well I found this picture,” said Joanna as she handed the phone to the nurse. The nurse took a long look at it.

“ Why is this so important?” asked the nurse.

“ That picture was taken on the exact date at the exact time of the murder,” said Joanna with a smile.

“ Oh my god. This is some very important evidence,” said the nurse.

“ Do you think if we showed Joe and everyone the picture it would get Liam off the hook? So he wouldn’t have to go to the trial and believe that he killed his father,” asked Louis.

“ Im not sure. Its worth a shot,” said the nurse.

“ We are going to go right now. Do you want to come with us?” asked Harry.

“ I can’t, I have to stay here with Liam,” said the nurse. She thanked us and we walked down the hall and then out of the building. The police office was close so we decided to walk. 

“ Zayn, are you ok?” I asked the sad faced boy.

“ Yea,” said Zayn.

“ Are you sure? You don’t seem it,” I replied. 

“ I’m fine,” said Zayn.

“ Is it about Hailey?” I asked. Zayn didn’t answer. We all knew that was the problem.

“ Zayn, she isn’t worth your time. She lied,” said Joanna who pretended like she didn’t care about her sister. I knew deep down that she was devastated. Her and Hailey were so close and now their relationship was torn apart. I heard Joanna crying the night before, while she muttered Hailey’s name.

“ Well I fell for her. Now Im annoyed with myself because I was so stupid. Even when I found out what she did I couldn’t stay away. I feel like an idiot,” said Zayn.

“ Don’t Zayn. We all forgive you,” said Louis with a smile as he wrapped his arm around Zayn.

“ Thanks,” said Zayn. This was a true Zouis moment, as out fans would say. We made it to the police office and walked inside. My body shivered at the memories of being locked up in these cells. They were horrifying memories that I wish I could forget. I was happy Liam didn’t have to remember the pain he felt while he was here. We were greeted by the kind words of Joe.

“ What the hell do you kids want?” he practically screamed.

“ We have something to show you,” said Joanna as she handed him her phone.
