Warning: This will probably be the longest chapter... this is also why it took so long to publish. I just want to make sure there are little to no errors in it.

He sat (technically paced) in the waiting room for what felt like hours. Who knows? It probably was; considering the shades of pink and orange that tumbled through the clouds outside. He'd already contacted Amy and Knuckles on what had happened (the pink hedgehog's tears nearly shed through the speaker), and they both sent him there best thoughts and hopes.
That was when doctor, who had taken Tails from him earlier, finally walked in the room, through its massive double doors. He had a clipboard, and was flipping through the pieces of paperwork. Sonic quickly walked over to him.
"How is he, doc?" The cobalt hedgehog asked, anxiously looking up at the human.
"Please, just call me Elwin. And who are you?"
"Oh, sorry... I forgot to tell you yesterday. I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. And I'm Tails' older brother."
"Ah... I thought I recognized a blue hedgehog and two tailed fox from somewhere," Elwin said chuckling. "Anyway, the f- I mean Tails- is on a ventilator, and his physical condition is improving at an incredibly good rate-"
Sonic sighed, "That's a relief." It was the first piece of good news he had heard all day.
"It's his mental state that is more... troublesome," Elwin finished nervously.
"What do ya mean?" Sonic asked, scared. Elwin got down to the hedgehog's eye level, grasped the hedgehog' shoulders with his rough hands, and prepared to tell the hero something he would never, want to hear.
"Sonic, I'm afraid that your little brother is in a coma. And there is a 50 percent chance that he won't wake up..."

Beautiful rays of sunshine shot through the originally dark hospital room. Sonic began to slowly wake up. It was not to long before the city started to awake as well. Sonic's sensitive ears heard the car horns and distinct chatter as he opened his eyes, and looked out at the streets below. No longer did silence reign.
Sonic turned back around, and decided to get a better look at the room. His chair was next to Tails' bed, and just passed the fox's bed, another bed. Across from the fox's cot, was a small, old television. It's remote was set on top.
Might as well, Sonic thought, knowing that he had nothing better to do. The hedgehog walked over to the television, picked up the remote, and pushed the power button. The volume was already on low, so the speedster started flipping through random channels. Then, suddenly, the daily news caught his eyes.
"...Doctor Eggman is rampaging through Station Square," the reporter stated. "It seems as though he has built a new robot, called the Egg Crusher and..."
The rest went over Sonic's head, as an explosion was heard outside. This caused Sonic to look out the window. Anger bubbled as he saw smoke rise up from a building, not to far away.
He then looked back at Tails; sleeping peacefully, face relaxed. He couldn't leave him. His brother needed him to be here when- if he woke up. The "what if's?" attacked. What if something happened while he was out? What if-? His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a very familiar voice.
