I woke up and stretched. I snuggled into the blankets and took several deep breaths with the alluring smell around me.
I slowly opened my eyes before jumping out of bed.
Oh no, I actually just slept in his bed. And loved waking up with his smell all around me. That's not good.
I quickly showered in the bathroom before changing and jogging down to the kitchen. It was already after ten in the morning.
I never sleep in that late.
Ever.
I poured a coffee and sat outside. I let my hair blow dry as the wind went through it. I closed my eyes as the sun fell on my face.
How did I love waking up in his room? Not even just like it, but love it? And he was right, that bed was more comfortable than any other bed I've ever been in.
It was like clouds except, even better.
I heard someone walk up and realized it was Daniel.
"Aren't you supposed to be training, Daniel?" I asked before opening my eyes.
"It's just finishing up. Caden ended it early."
"Why?"
He shrugged, "I don't know Cupcake. What did you do?"
"What? I didn't do anything." I hadn't even seen him today.
"You did something. He was laughing and joking around all morning with all kinds of the guys. It's been years since that's happened."
"I really don't know what I did."
"Well, keep doing it. Its nice to have my big bro back."
Was it because I slept in his bed? Daniel said he thought it was my way of rejecting him, so maybe. Or was it because I let him hold me last night, with his hands on my waist? Maybe it was both.
"I'm sure it is."
It grew quiet and Caden emerged from the woods as he nuggied some guy about half his size. I held back my smile. He looked so happy and relaxed. I've never seen him this way with anyone but Daniel.
"Seriously though, what changed?"
I shrugged, "I slept in his bed last night, but I doubt-"
"That's it. Thanks Cupcake, I missed Caden."
"Daniel I-"
"I'll see you later. Maybe for a bike ride?"
"Sure, I guess. I haven't been on one in a while."
"Mind if I bring two people?"
"Not at all. I should meet people."
"You've already met them."
He jogged off before I could ask. I only knew Sam, Daniel and Caden. Oh god, was he inviting Caden? Sam sure, but Caden? That would be awkward. I'm hoping Sam though, they seem to get along. And I really do enjoy her company. It would be good if her and Daniel got along. For both of them.
I stood up to bring my cup inside as Caden stopped beside me.
"Have a good sleep?" He asked nervously.
I didn't know how to respond. I didn't want to lie to him, ever, but I knew he would want me to sleep there tonight. "Yes, but-"
"Better than the bed downstairs?"
"Yeah, but-"
"So you're going to use it?" He seemed so hopeful.I glanced back at the woods where he had been hanging out with the guys. Then I thought of Daniel and knew I couldn't say no. After everything Daniel has done for me, I had to do this for him, "Unless you want your room back."
"Our room. And no, you should use it."
"But you said you don't sleep good in your office."
"I wouldn't sleep good alone anywhere."
And here comes the awkward silence.
Yep, there it is.
"Mind if I join you for a coffee?" He said glancing down at my cup.
"I guess not."
He really did seem happy and relaxed today, even happier when I said yes. He took the cup from my hand and I followed him into the house.
"I can pour coffee."
"Maybe I want to show off." He joked and I couldn't hold back my smile. He was so carefree today, I actually like it. A lot more than I should. And although he was already the hottest guy I have ever seen, him being like this made him even more attractive. If at all possible.
"Maybe you don't."
"Don't doubt me Blake."
I laughed a little at the déjà vu and his eyes lit up. I looked down as he stared at me.
"Milk? Sugar?"
"Just milk."
"One? Two? Five?"
"Just one." He poured some milk in and handed me a cup, "Thanks."
"No, thank you. I haven't sat down to enjoy a cup of coffee in way too long."
"Why not?" I didn't mean to ask, I'm just too fast to ask what I'm thinking.
"The same reason I don't do a lot of things I should." He stared at me and I looked away when I felt like he was going to get serious, "I never had good company to do them with."
Boy did I call that, I thought. I walked out to the porch and sat cross legged in a patio chair. He sat in the one beside mine and we both sipped our coffees.
"Do you do this every morning?" He asked.
"Do what?"
"Sit out here?"
"I try to. I always have."
He nodded, "It's good. I should try it."
Thank goodness he didn't mention the company again.
"Maybe you should."
He nodded again and turned towards the woods.
"Doing anything today?" He asked me and I wasn't sure what to say. Was he coming on the bike ride?
"Yeah. Daniel asked me to hang out with him."
"And do what?"
"He said biking."
"Fun."
"You?"
"He asked." I sat in silence until I just got too curious.
"And?"
"I wasn't sure if you would like if I went. So I didn't respond."
"It's not up to me. Daniel can invite whoever he wants."
"We both know that's true. But we also know neither of us wants to be the reason it's awkward."
"It doesn't have to be awkward."
I felt him turn to look at me and I looked up to the sky as the sun hit my face.
My wolf purred as she happily sat in the sun. She's actually the reason I sit out here in the morning. It calms her, helping me calm.
"But it probably will be."
"It's not right now."
"Would you be mad if I came along?"
"No." Not mad, per se. Maybe dread it a little, but not mad.
"Honestly?"
"I wouldn't lie to you Caden."
"I wasn't implying that you would. At least I didn't mean to. I guess I should've said 'are you sure?'."
"Yes, I'm sure."
It was silent for a few minutes before he sighed. I looked over to see him shaking his head with a small smile on it.
I looked at him questioningly and he seemed to think about what to say before just letting out, "Daniel."
"Oh. So you're coming then?"
"Blake, I won't if you don't want me to."
"I think Daniel would like it if you came."
"And you?"
"A bike ride couldn't hurt anything."
He smiled before we both remained silent as we finished our cups.Four hours later it fell silent after we stopped laughing. It had been quiet, but comfortably quiet, for the last couple hours as we rode along. There were just times when someone would say something and the talking would begin until it faded off again.
We were kind of in a line, Daniel in the front, then Caden, then Sam, and I was at the back.
I was happy Caden kept his distance, I know it sounded dumb, but he was right, it could've been awkward.
"You were with your sister yesterday right?" Sam asked me.
"Yeah," I smiled, "And my friend tagged along too, which was a surprise."
"That's cool, what did you do?"
"We went to the beach."
"Good view?"
I laughed at the subtle question in behind and nodded, "Yeah. Pretty good. I've seen better, but it wasn't bad."
"Fridays seem to have the best views."
"Really?"
"Yep," she said. Daniel looked back at us with a confused face and we both laughed before he shook his head.
"Really?" He asked, "This fine specimen of male is right here and you're talking about other ones?"
Sam shrugged, "Like you said, you're fine, but... they're pretty good, maybe even great."
I laughed and he scowled at her.
"Sammy, I'm all you'll ever need for eye candy."
Caden whipped his head around as he looked between all of us before focussing ahead. I guess he didn't know what we meant by 'view'. Actually, yesterday I couldn't stop comparing everyone to him.
It actually pissed me off. There were some hot guys, but Caden's face or body would pop up in my mind and nobody seemed to even compare.
It was frustrating. All because that one day all he had on was a towel slung around his waist. Low slung, but still hanging on.
"Blake?"
"Sorry, what? I zoned out."
"Thinking about the view," Sam joked and I heard a small growl from Caden.
"What were you saying?"
"We should go for a swim in the pond." Daniel said. "We can drop our bikes off and get changed before swimming."
"Um, sure, yeah."
"Blake?" Daniel questioned concerned.
"I'm all good. Just not focused." I didn't think about it yesterday, but why did he pop up in my head? Not even just once, but every time.
"Okay, let's head back."
I nodded and we took the right path of the split and headed back to the pack house.
It was quiet all the way back and I noticed Sam raking her eyes over Daniel as we rode along. I smirked, maybe they were actually really good friends.
I noticed though that Caden and Daniel were using the pack link. You could tell because they would smile at the same time or both glance back or something. Sometimes Caden would even glare at him and Daniel would have to hide his laughter.
It made me miss my pack so much more. That used to be my sister and I, now I don't even have a link.
Let him mate with us, my wolf said but I ignored her.I got changed and didn't wait for them before I took off for the woods. I made my way to the pond and dove in as I heard footsteps.
I resurfaced to see Caden standing there. His shorts were hanging dangerously low and there were splashes of water running down his very toned chest and abdomen.
"Well don't just stand there, hop in!" Daniel said as he walked up and pushed Caden into the water, breaking whatever silent spell we had fallen under.
