When we walked into English class, everyone made a concerned face. I'm pretty sure it was because the new, already popular girl walked into class with me. The loner and kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Mrs. Williams had the seating chart up on the board so everyone could find their seats when they came in. Coincidentally, Veronica and I were next to each other. Which could be a good thing. I looked at her once again and took my seat in the back right corner of the classroom and her following behind me.

V: "Well that worked out better than I expected." she let out a slight giggle.

J: "You mean the fact that we're sitting next to each other? Yeah, I guess that worked out. Anyways, have you made any friends besides me and Archie?"

V: "Yeah, actually. Uhm, do you know a girl named Cheryl Blossom?"

I nodded

V: "Oh, and I also met her girlfriend...? Toni Topaz." she said unsurely.

J: "Toni is one of my best friends actually. She's in the serpents with me. And, yeah. Toni and Cheryl are dating." I smiled.

She let out a sigh of relief

V: "Good. I didn't want to make rumors on accident. But, who and what are the SouthSide Serpents? Because I saw you wearing a jacket this morning with a snake and the lettering. My mom keeps pressuring me- never mind."

J: "You were checking me out, huh?" I said with a smirk "The SouthSide Serpents are just a gang on the SouthSide. We don't hurt people for no reason if that's what you're worried about. What were you gonna say about your mom pressuring you?"

V: "I was totally not checking you out! Don't flatter yourself, Jones. Anyways, do you live on the SouthSide?"

J: "I do actually. In Sunny Side Trailer Park. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live?"

V: "Oh, I actually live on the SouthSide too. In the Pembrook."

(Just pretend the Pembrook is on the SouthSide hehe)

J: "Hm, interesting."

Before I could talk to the girl any longer the teacher started speaking about her class, what she teaches, and rules. Shit like that. The bell to leave school rung and everyone jumped out of their seats. I got up as well and walked into the hallway and then I felt someone grab my arm. To my suprise, it was Betty Cooper.

J: "Hey Betts. What's up?"

B: "Your going to Pop's tonight with Archie and I right?"

J: "Yeah, I am. Why?"

B: "Nothing. It's just.. Archie and I are in an awkward place right now. And I tried to ignore it this morning but I don't think I can."

The girl had a sad look on her face and I felt bad for her. I've known her since we were little and it was upsetting seeing her like this because of her real childhood best friend Archie.

J: "Well what happened to make it awkward?"
B: "Ugh, Jug... I told him that I had feelings. And he totally doesn't feel the same way...."

J: "Really? You told him that you like him? And he doesn't like you back?"

B: "I don't think so, Juggie. I'll try and talk to him. But in the meantime, I was hoping that you would help me with the Blue and Gold after school...?"

J: "Seems like fun, I'll stop by.

B: "Yay! I'll see you tonight at Pop's?"

J: "You know I could never miss a burger, Betty."

B: "Right. Well I'll see you in a few!"

And with that, she let go of my arm and walked away to her locker. I was walking outside to my bike and was met by the Boy Next Door.

J: "Hey. What's up Arch?

A: "Hey, I just was wondering if you're still up for tonight? I invited Veronica too. Have you talked to her at all besides this morning? I know how you are with some girl...."

J: "Yeah, I'm totally up for tonight. As for Veronica, she seems super nice. I have 8th period with her and we sit next to each other. Let's just hope her and Betty get along."

The boys chuckled, waved to each other, and went their separate ways. Little did they know that the two girls would not get along.
