Your POV

The following day after Lauren and I picked up Payton from school she seemed a little sad and upset with her arms folded. "What's wrong with you Payton?" I asked looking at her through the mirror.

"Nothing," she replied with a frown.

"Honey, I asked what's wrong with you."

"I said nothing."

"I asked, what's wrong with you?"

"I said nothing!"

I rolled my eyes and counted to three in my head. One. Two. Three.

"Fine! I had a bad day," she grumbled.

"Why?" Lauren asked trying not to laugh at the fact that my daughter and I just recreated a vine or whatever the fuck it's called. Payton mumbled something incoherently. "What was that?"

Payton sighed. "I got bullied."

My grip on the steering wheel tightened making my knuckles turn white. "Who?" I asked through gritted teeth. If I wasn't obvious I was livid. I remember getting bullied and it was the worse feeling ever. Besides watching my family get murdered of course.

"Joaquin."

"How long has this been going on?"

"Just today. It was his first day, he's new." Just then we arrived at my house. We got out the car and went in. We all sat down on the couch with Payton in between us.

"Baby, you have to tell someone," I lectured her.

"I'm telling you," Payton smiled.

"You have to tell the teacher," I specified.

"She needs to stand up for herself which is what she needs to do," Lauren interjected. "Jab him in the throat." She then pretended to jab someone in the throat. Payton nodded smiling.

"Nooooooo," my eyes went wide. "We are not doing that."

"Why not?" Payton whined.

"Because violence is not the answer."

"Sure it is."

"Lauren!" I exclaimed looking at her. "Not helping!"

Lauren rolled her eyes and continued. "The only way he's going to stop is if you show him he can't mess with you. If you jab him in the throat he'll never want to mess with you again."

"Lauren, I'm not teaching my daughter violence," I said.

"Why not?" Payton asked.

"Because that's how people get in trouble," I answered.

"It's also how you get out of trouble," Lauren interjected.

"Lauren!" I yelled. "Stop it!"

"Why?!" She looked at me defensively.

"Because she's my daughter!"

"She's kinda my daughter too now!"

"No she's no-"

"Stop it!" Payton yelled. We both looked at her and saw her with tears in her eyes. "I don't want you two to fight." She sniffled.

I sighed. "I'm sorry baby."

"Yeah me too," Lauren apologized.

"How about this, you tell the teacher but if nothing changes then you jab him in the throat, Yeah?"

Lauren chuckled. "That work for me."

Payton nodded. "Okay." After that we put on Sofia the first and relaxed the rest of the day. I wished it could last forever because now I know the next day would change everything.

Oof what's gonna happen next. I mean, I know but you don't so tell me what you think might happen next. I know it's short but I wanted one more chapter before the real drama started. So hope you enjoyed. Tell me what you thought.
