We had been driving a couple hours In peaceful silence, making me fall asleep. I woke up around 5 pm to music drowning out most of the sound of the rain softly patting at the windows.

I looked at the water droplets forming on the passenger side window, changing color with each light we passed by. I loved car rides, they were peaceful for the most part. I loved it even more when it rained at night.

Something about being warm and dry, and looking out to see all kinds of glowing lights through the rain filled window made me feel calm and safe. It was so beautiful and relaxing, especially with good music playing in the background. I shifted in my seat and
noticed a soft black blanket on top of me.

Calix glanced over at me,seeing that I was awake. "How'd you sleep?" I stretched and let out a small yawn. "Good, thank you for covering me."

"No problem, even with the heater on, you seemed a little cold, I thought it was the least I could do." I pulled the blanket up more, snuggling into it. His cologne found its own way to my nose, bringing me instant gratification. He smelt so good.

After a while, I started getting jittery. I was bored, and didn't have anything to do except sleep, and stare at the dark road ahead of us.

It seemed like he had his moments of kindness, despite being a psychopath. I couldn't get a good read on him. I didn't know how to feel about him or if I should feel anything other than resentment.

I wish he never would've saved me at the bar. He should've left me alone. Whatever would've happened without him saving me is nothing compared to how he's trapped me.

Will I be a prisoner for the rest of my life? Never being able to make my own decisions, never being able to be independent. I might as well be living with James except with no possibility of escape.

"Hey, how long do you plan to keep me?" With eyebrows raised he looked at me for a split second before focusing on the road. "Having regrets already?"

My eyes focused on my fingers as it intertwined and tapped each knuckle, "No, I just want to know. Am I just some prisoner that you're watching over? Will I be able to leave?"

"Don't worry, I'll put you to good use" with furrowed brows I stared at him. "What do you mean put me to good use? Doing what?"

He sighed in response, "Quit panicking, I know I'm not a good man but I'm not a terrible one either."

I sunk into my seat, pulling up the warm blanket. "I find that hard to believe" I mumbled, my voice barely above a whisper. "Well then I guess you'll just have to take my word for it."

Silence took over once again and I began to examine his features. If it weren't for the current situation I probably would've come to like him. He's cute and all, but he's rotten to the core.

"Since were going to be together for a while, why don't we get to know each other?" With narrowed eyes i watched him cautiously, "What do you want to know?"

His fingers tapped the steering wheel as he hummed to the song on the radio, "Your argument with your mom the other day, what was she mad about?"

"You heard us?" He looked over at me and let out a small laugh, "Weren't you the one telling me to keep it down because the walls are so thin?"

I rolled my eyes, "She wanted me to stay with my ex. He's the son of one of my dads business partners, she didn't want me jeopardizing their business relationship." He nodded, "Then why did you break up?"

"He cheated on me, are we done now?" A surprised expression found its way to his face but quickly contorted into an amused smile, "Seems like I hit a nerve."

"You're holding me hostage and now you're worried about hitting a nerve? Who even are you, really. A kidnapper? A sex trafficker?"

He began to chuckle quietly, as I looked at him in disbelief his chuckle began to form into a full blown fit of laughter, "What the hell is so funny?"

He took a couple deep breathes to calm himself before speaking, "You know," he said still trying to contain his laughter, "I never really took you for the bold type. I don't know too many women who would be running their mouths in a situation like this. You're pretty fiesty, I like it."

I scoffed, "You sound like an apex predator." He took his hand off of the steering wheel and placed it on my head, his warm hand gently patting my head, my once tense body loosened under his touch.

He removed his hand from my head, leaving me feeling a bit lonely. "I'm a business man."

"You seem like more of a criminal to me." He shook his head, "Dirty business is still business."

His body was slouched over the wheel as he fought back another yawn, "if you're tired why don't we stop at a hotel?"

"Where do you think we're headed?"
