So this is based off the manga, like a spin-off from after Serinuma and Mutsumi get together.
Shinomiya is heartbroken to find out that Mutsumi is already taken and gave up on trying to gain Mu's attention. Everytime the pair (Seri and Mu) walk by or are seen by Shi together, he looks at them with longing. Or more specifically, he is looking at Mu.
Mu takes note of this and feels bad after this whole thing with Shi went on for a week, he confronts Shi with the assumption that Shi still loves Seri. Shi doesnt know how to tell Mu that he loves Mu so he lies, saying he doesn't like Seri anymore, he just wants someone for him to love and be loved by.
Mu experiences the feelings called love, true love, without knowing at that moment and decides to help Shi find love. During the process, Shi still is heartbroken and thinks it's really ironic and useless of him to let his love help him find love.
No progess is made and Mu's feelings for Shi grow so strong that he finally realises he loved Shi from the start and what he felt with Seri was just puppy love. He breaks up with Seri and works on making Shi fall in love with him, not knowing that the latter already does.
And they confess and live happily ever a- Yeah you get it.
