Hey peoples, Olivia here! Do you like me updating fast or is it too much? That's kind of a stupid question but I really don't care. But I might be slowing down on the updates because of school. Anyway, enjoy the story if you can. Peace! XOO
ps. Sometimes I can't think of "I don't care" anymore because on the first day of school, my english teacher was talking about something and she was like, "It's like that song I don't care" And now... Just ugh. She actually sang those three words and said that's all she knows. Her singing voice though...
Disclaimer: I, Olivia, do not own anything related to The Maze Runner. J-Dash does. That.. is also stupid and yet again, I DON'T CARE. Farewell!
Screw gym class. As much as I like it, I hate running laps. In the freaking cold.
Okay it's not that cold. It's November, but it's still fairly warmish where I live. Plus I can't complain when the track team's fall season doesn't end until closer to December. Well, they chose to do it.
I kept jogging around the field next to Hollen, our ponytails swinging in sync. We were about the same height, standing at 5'9, maybe a centermeter or two off. I'm not sure who was taller, though. We argued over that a few times.
After two more agonizing laps, the coaches called us in telling half of us to go with Coach Vecky and half to go with Coach Core. I walked with Vecky's group, which included Hollen, Savannah, Lauren, Minho, and a bunch of other random kids. Oh I'm doomed. Getting sweaty and probably failing at whatever we were doing... In front of my high school crush.
Turns out we were playing kickball. Which is something I suck at. Well I wouldn't say I'm terrible. What happens is anxiety kicks in when the ball comes anywhere near me and I have no clue what to do. I'm afraid I'd throw it to the wrong person, or if I was kicking, that I would kick it really badly or get out or something. How freaking fantastic.
I started out in the field with we-shall-not-speak-of-his-name and one of my friends, Kenna. And of course those random kids.
"Deep breaths, Olivia. Deeeep breeaths..." I told myself as the first person stepped up to kick. Luckily, they kicked it on the opposite side of the field. So did the next person, but one of my team mates caught it and got the other team out. Only two more outs and then I get to... kick. Better than not knowing what to do.
Hollen stepped up to the field. She's a soccer player so she has a good kick. I got in a good stance and braced myself. She ran up to the ball and kicked it hard, sending it flying into the air. The rubber ball was heading my way so I tried to get rid of my anxiety and just got ready to run after it. But it was coming straight at me.
My eyes widened and I held my arms out. Hopefully it would go over me. Hopefully.
Aaaand BAM!
It hit me right in the face. But the good news is... I caught it! That meas that Hollen is out! I feel bad for getting her out, but she is kind of responsible for the stinging on my face. I stood up with the ball in my arms while wearing a small grin. Kenna asked me if I was okay, and I told her I was. I threw the green rubber sphere back to the pitcher or whatever the name of it is and dusted off my horrid gym shorts. They were basketball shorts that gave me a wedgie. But they were better than the other, tiny pair of shorts I always forget to replace.
Kickball actually wasn't that bad. I kicked twice, both pretty good I guess. My team won. We do have a star runner on our team, after all.
"Alright, today we'll be playing a game called toxic river," Coach Core said. We switched activities so now I'm done playing kickball and instead with Core.
