I wake up to my alarm. I smell something in the air. I throw on a bulky sweatshirt and walk out. I reach the kitchen. Hoseok stands at the stove cooking. He turns around.
He sets a pan down on a hot pad and looks up. "Whoa! Hey! Rose, put on some pants!" He covers his eyes and looks away.
I roll my eyes. "I do have pants on."
He looks at me with a questioning look. "No, you don't!" He looks away again.
I rub my eyes. "Yes, I do dip shit look!" He looks at me. I reach for the hem of my white sweatshirt and pull it up revealing my white shorts and bare stomach. "See." He smirks and lets out a small chuckle. "What?"
He makes a face. "Oh. Nothing." I hug my waist and sit on a stool at the island. "Pancakes?" I nod. I let out a yawn and stretch. I close my eyes as I stretch. When I open my eyes he is starring at me shamelessly.
"What? You like what you see?" His face gets red as he turns back to the stove. I smirk. He hands me a plate with two large pancakes and a small bowl of fruit. "Woah. Thanks." He smiles. I take my hair out of its messy bun and shake it pushing my hair to one side.
"Rose, you have to stop already."
I frown. "Stop what?" I stab a piece of watermelon and throw it in my mouth.
"This. All of this." He motions around me.
"What do you mean?"
He sighs and covers his face. "I'm not going to let you seduce me. Even if..."
I cut him off. "Ok, first of all, I don't know what the hell you think I'm doing but I can promise you that I'm not trying to seduce you, and second, even if I did seduce you and I was your girlfriend or something you wouldn't even help get me out of this. The only thing you love is yourself and that..." He rolls his eyes and comes to my side. He gets inches from my face.
I am cut off by his movements. "Rose, I'm not going to deny my feelings for you. I have known you longer than you have known me. I was sent to watch you, Rose. As soon as the council caught word of your mother's death they were thrilled." I swallow hard remembering my mother's death. "We didn't know she had a daughter until we caught word of the people of the town being burned and the whole town disappearing. Then we started to look for you and your brother." My brother. My beautiful baby brother. I look down at the floor as tears start to fall. I clutch my chest. It hurts. It hurts so so much. "Rose. Rose? I didn't mean..." I get angry.
I look up at him. "Yes, you did!" The stove lights on fire.
"Rose calm down."
I run my hands through my hair. "Calm down! Are you kidding me?! You have feelings for me?! Right! Because you just were hoping I would be too weak for this so you could get me away from you!" Hurt fills his face. "That's what this is really about isn't it!" The stack of napkins on the counter set fire.
"Rose, please calm down." I clutch my chest. Tears roll down my face. Tears roll down... his face.
"I can't! It hurts too much. How... how can someone live like this?!" I sob. "Make it stop, please! Anyone make it stop!" I fall to my knees on the ground. I curl up in a ball. Hoseok sits down with me on the floor. He grabs me. I beat on his chest and then melt into his embrace. I cry so hard. My chest is on fire.
He grabs my face. "Can I show you something?" I frown a bit. He caresses my cheek with his thumb. He brings my face close and kisses me. The whole world stops. The hurt stops. A boom sounds as a big gust of wind is sent through the house and the woods. It's powerful. I struggle at first but then I melt into the power and the kiss. He pulls away and everything is still. The stove is no longer on and the napkins lay in a pile of ash. He rests his forehead against mine. "Believe me now?" I just breathe. I realize what has just happened I quickly pop up to my feet. He stands as well.
