The Book of Spirits

Everyone sits on their stumps battered and bruised. 

I look over at Hoseok. "Your turn." He smirks at me. Unlike the others, Hoseok is a bit of a challenge. He can do the seven wonders and has mastered all of the elements. All except spirit. I take a deep breath. "Hit me with your best shot."

He smiles and shrugs. "You still gonna love me in the morning?" 

I giggle. "We will see." 

He places his hands out by his shoulders. "Circulus ignis." (1) A ring of fire burns hot around us. 

I smirk. "Is that all you got?"

He smiles. "Just wanted to make sure you couldn't run my dear." 

I smirk. "Huc ades, deliciae." (2) Without hesitation, Hoseok walks to me. 

He smirks. "You could have just asked love."

I smile and tilt my head. "Teipsum scandali." (3) As he flies up into the air yelling I place a flat rock under him. "Saxum de terra." (4) He twists in the air and shouts the rock exploding it with his magic and slams on the ground. He groans. I giggle. He trips me with magic. I fly up into the air and land on my back. I cough. "That was rude." I stand up. He lifts a rock with his mind. It flies at my head. I put an x in front of my face with my arms and the rock breaks into pieces. He transmutates to me. Before he can touch my cheek with his hand I transmutate behind him. "Volare." (5) He flies up into the air. I giggle. 

He gasps. "Woah!" 

I smile. "Never get distracted by your opponent." I kiss his cheek as I bring him down. I close my eyes. "Ignem aqua extinxit." (6) The ring of fire goes out. I take a deep breath and open my eyes. 

Rocky looks at me. "Ok, Rose. You got us all. Now teach us how to go against these guys." 

I take a deep breath. "You are all amazing at what you do and strong. It's time to really strengthen your skills so we can all walk away from this fight." Hoseok grabs my hand. "I need to talk to you." He nods. We walk away from the group. I cross my arms and look at him. "Has anyone ever tried to use divination to find people?" 

Hoseok tilts his head. "What do you mean?"

I sigh. "Chiffron didn't exactly give us a time and a date of when he was coming. What if there was a way to know when he's coming."

Karson comes over. "Just use a wifting spell."

Hosoek looks at him. "Wifting spell?" 

Karson sighs. "I guess I should have given this to you when we found out you could manipulate spirit. Come on follow me." 

Once back at the house, Karson takes us to his room. He pulls a lord of the Rings book off the shelf. 

I giggle. "Is this a joke?"

He looks at me and then back at the book. "Veram ostende formam tuam." (7)  A black and purple book shines in his hands. 

I run my hand over it. "Liber spirituum. Lumen et Obscurum." (8) 

Hoseok looks at Karson. "The Book of Spirits. Where did you get this?" 

Karson sighs. "You remember that Voodoo witch I was seeing not too long ago? Well she gifted it to me but if you open it..." He grabs the book and opens it. "it only reveals itself to people that can manipulate spirit." He turns the book and shows it to us.

I tilt my head. "How do I get it to reveal itself to me?" 

Karson looks at me. "In luce et in tenebris dirigat me spiritus. Teipsum revela." (9) I take a deep breath and look at the two men. 

Hoseok looks at me. "Light and dark?"

Karson nods. "Listen, be careful. Spirit has a dark and a light side. To tame the dark... let's just say you have to give up a part of your soul."

Hoseok grabs my hand. "You be careful with that thing." I nod at him. We leave the room and Karson starts to head back to the field with the others. Hoseok and I head to the witch's hut. When I enter I place the book on a stand and look up at him.

I sigh. "Im gonna have to do this alone baby." 

He nods. "I know. Just please be careful. Nothing is important enough to cost you a piece of your soul." I nod. He walks over to me gently placing a hand on the back of my neck. He slams his lips onto mine. I place a gentle hand on his wrist. He laid his forehead on mine as we caught our breath. "I will see you later tonight." He smiled softly at me and walked out. 

I looked down at the book and took a deep breath. "In luce et in tenebris dirigat me spiritus. Teipsum revela." Black cursive writing shows up on the pages. I smile softly and begin to read.
