Ivar's POV

I laid onto my plush bed with Freydis. We were both unclothed. She started to kiss me passionately and I could feel ourselves getting intertwined.

All that came to an end when she pulls away with wide eyes and a sword piercing from her chest. As the sword is pulled out, Freydis falls on top of me, I see the killer.

Halfrid had a wild grin on her face. She let out a wicked laugh and behind her shoulders was two men the seer and the god Odin.

"She is no longer yours." The seer said, his voice echoed loudly.

"She's mine." Odin added. He looked over at my wife. "Do it."

Without hesitation she strikes me in the heart with a laugh.

"So the king falls." She whispered.

I startle awake and try to catch my breath. I looked over to see Halfrid fully dressed. She was changing Thora's diaper.

"Are you okay?" She asked me in a cautionary manner.

"Y-yes." I stuttered. A thrall entered the room and I gestured for her to grab my clothes for the day. "What do you plan to do today?" I looked over at my wife who was approaching me with our child in her arms.

"I-I am not sure. Is there something you'd like me to do?" She was using the calmest tone she could muster.

"No, I just assumed you would train for England." I was trying to have a normal conversation, but it was hard when our relationship was anything but normal. It was more estranged.

"I know you are furious, but you cannot be angry at your brother forever. He is just so hurt right now. He's not in his right state of mind." She sat on the bed as I got dressed.

I pulled up my pants and watched as Halfrid struggled to maintain eye contact. "I cannot forgive him."

"You don't have to. Just be civil in public." She ordered.

I nodded my head. I couldn't bear him telling Halfrid about my affair. I kissed her head and turned to our child. It brought me comfort to see her resemblance to me. But she was sweeter than I could ever be.

"You should train. I'll watch Thora while I work." I shrugged. I knew our relationship wasn't perfect but I could still be the father to Thora that I never had. I could still try to be a good husband as well.

"Are you sure?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I'm not completely helpless." I bickered. I was offended that she'd question my parenting ability but then again she had a point. "I'll just keep Berit close."

She smiled softly at the mention of Berit. "Okay, I'll leave you with Thora. She loves hair, so keep yours away from her. Keep her hands occupied with a toy. She loves to blow raspberries and squeal." Halfrid leaned Thora against pillows to give her support. "She likes being talked to. So when you can-"

"Dont worry, I can be a parent." I tell Halfrid as she started to panic.

She sighed. "I'm sorry, I promise I'll be calmer by our second child."

I couldn't help but smile at her words. Her mentioning a second child makes me happy that she has hope for us.

"Good, because I'll be more involved."
