Osiris Mubarak, the vampire hybrid, grabbed hold of the shower head and twirled the long hose around his forearm neatly until finally letting out a low tone melody escape his lips. The song Ankh from Scarab was playing on his favorite radio station, and he was enjoying the little time singing to himself in the shower using the shower head as a microphone.
Letting out a few deep growls, keeping the beat to the song, he imagined himself in the face of a crowd all cheering for him and praising him as the bass drop kicked in followed by the solo. Taking the stance, he began to head bang with the beat of the music until he remembered the shower head sprouting out water. Coughing from a mouth and nose full of water, he found himself still in the shower. Naked and wet with the shower head wrapped around his arm.
Sighing for having to live in reality, he hooked the shower head back and finished washing himself. Grabbing the towel hanging on the wall beside him, drying himself off and heading into his small studio apartment with the patio door wide open to let in the night cool air from the ocean. The sun was now setting and he found himself walking towards his patio door to gaze upon the sun for the short amount of time he could.
Hybrid vampires, the ones others considered as damnations, were the only ones to feel the sun and see it - even if for a very short time. The sun rays hit his flesh with a nice warmth he would only be granted for a short few minutes. It wouldn’t be long until the sun would begin to slightly burn him before it became unbearable.
“Laylat al-khair.” Whispering Goodnight in his native tongue, he watched for a little longer as the sun finally faded beyond the horizon. It was one of his favorite things to do in life. See the sun rise and set, every day. It made him feel human.
It made him feel alive.
But being a half-breed, he was reminded constantly from humans and X-humans that he will never be either.
Pushing away finally from the patio, he walked over to his dresser and threw on a pair of loose fitted shorts over his darkly tanned skin. The pale blue was almost a nice contrast against his flesh. Drying the rest of his ebony hair that reached to his shoulders in waves, he threw the towel into the hamper and crashed onto his bed.
Tonight was his night off, and he planned on catching up on some television shows he missed for the past three months while he was out on a mission. You’d think this day and age, hiring a mercenary would be somewhat outdated, but it wasn’t. If the Syndicate wasn’t sending him out on some completely off the wall missions, he was being hired by any species who knew his name and contact information.
At least it paid the bills in the cheap studio apartment. But then again, he wasn’t used to luxury.
Clicking on the television, he heard his cell phone buzzing around on his night stand. Debating on answering, he outweighed the good and bad and figured it would be best to answer in case if it was another job lined up.
Picking up the slim flip-phone, he noticed the name flashing on the screen. Kehpri Khaldun. Yeah, he almost dodged a bullet there. Flipping the phone open, he brought it to his ear only to immediately pull it away from a sharp scream.
“How dare you not pick up on the first ring!” Kehpri exclaimed.
Sighing, he looked up to the heavens and wondered why he was stuck with such a nagging and obnoxious half-sister. “I was in the shower.” Finally replying.
